More big government authoritarian Republicanism.
I say every investment savvy capitalist ought to jump on this opportunity to make some serious cash. There is probobly a good 5-8 year opportunity before the law is either quashed or the big money takes over (big tobacco), and shuts down the start-ups.
They almost certainly will - though they probably have pretty big money in it already. In my experience we'd do better to take the path we have taken with tobacco - the stuff is not as innocuous as we used to think, to judge by those I know.
That is all I am saying. The argument used by those pushing legalization is that it is innocuous. Well, the stuff that is out there today is much more potent. It isn't your mama's mary jane

The legalization of marijuana is an idea that is gaining momentum in the United States, but there may be a dark side to pot becoming more commonplace, a new study suggests.
Fatal crashes involving marijuana use tripled during the previous decade, fueling some of the overall increase in drugged-driving traffic deaths, researchers from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health report.
A study like this is useless, really, given the amount of time pot can be detected in a user's system as compared to the period of intoxication after use.

So this is the new conservatism.
Personal responsibility is out the window. If someone drives a car high on marijuana we're now going to side with the ACLU types and pick apart tests that would confirm marijuana use. "The tests are useless. Hooray! We get to use marijuana in an atmosphere free of personal responsibility!"
Other conservative benefits would include new government regulations, taxation, and more tax dollars to the gluttonous gobblement.
I always wondered what happened to those dopey kids once they became too old to ride skateboards. It seems they've become the "new conservatives."
Another stupid conservative that does not understand the data and/or how to turn it into useful information or knowledge.
Traffic fatalities are down, and there seems to be a connection to medical marijuana laws. The reasons are obvious, marijuana use substitutes for alcohol and/or pills. Driving high is much safer than drunk or pilled up.

I agree with most of what you wrote, however your comment that driving high is much safer than being drunk or stoned off other medication is ridiculous. You are still impaired and still a danger to everyone around you. I am not sure how you can substantiate such nonsense.
