Zero Republican Professors in More Than Half of Surveyed University Departments

The forces in the Republican Party that brought us trump are going to last for decades.

No, that's not true at all. The driving force in the Republican party right now is still what I'd call, "Democrat lite." It's the Romney, Cheney, McConnell wing of the party. They are entrenched, part of the Washington insider deep state, and have no intention of letting outsiders like Trump or his protégé's have any power.

You have no idea what they control

What you are saying is just silly. Unions have no control over dissertation committees or tenure committees. They do not decide peer reviewed journal entries or anything else like that. They do have some say at the junior college end of the scale, but almost none at universities.

There is some push for unionization at universities, but it still is in its infancy, and has no control over careers anywhere.

Your political party is not on an academic application. That he has nothing to do with the job. It just so happens that the vast majority of highly educated people are liberals. Thre are plenty of right-wing profs. Just not near a majority. It is no plot.
