George Zimmerman is getting a lot of attention for his artwork after it was discovered he was selling an original piece on eBay.

George Zimmerman is selling a painting he made on eBay.

In 24 hours, the painting he listed online skyrocketed from 99 cents to almost $100,000.

However, many people are questioning its authenticity.

In the description on eBay, Zimmerman says his painting on stretched canvas is a signed original, but it has been pointed out on social media how much it resembles a stock photo.

On Twitter, @CallsforJustice posted an image from ShutterStock next to Zimmerman's artwork showing the similarities.

WESH 2 News Facebook fans voiced their opinions of the work, "Nice work, but crazy on the price," "Good for him. Putting his efforts into something constructive."

Yet, others were more critical, "You have got to be kidding me!! What moron bid on this?" "I wouldn't contribute one penny to him. And whoever is actually bidding on his stuff should be ashamed."

On Monday, Zimmerman's attorney Jayne Weintraub confirmed that the eBay listing was in fact from Zimmerman.

"I can confirm that yes, this is my client," said Zimmerman's attorney, Jayne Weintraub. "He is trying to find a creative way to get on with his life."

First off, I believe photoshopping is art. What the close up looks like to me, since the canvas wasn’t gessoed (layers of paint to smooth the canvas marks) is that it was photoshopped from the flag wallpaper, digitally printed on canvas, he glopped some paint on the colored blocks and then a layer of some type of semigloss was put on top of it. Then he put the words in white matte on top of the gloss, including his signature. But he definitely lifted that flag from the wallpaper which was probably on his laptop screen, next to the gun on the kitchen table. Just sayin’.

According to the New York Times, the parents of Trayvon Martin are shopping a book to publishers about their son who was killed in an altercation with neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in 2012.

Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton, who are divorced, said the book will focus on the complete story of their son and detail how their lives were filled with shock and sorrow as a result of Trayvon’s death. In July, in a trial that captured the attention of Americans unlike any other since the O.J. Simpson trial, Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter.


Martin and Fulton were joined in their publishing meeting by their Dallas-based literary agent, Jan Miller. Miller is known for being the literary agent to the stars. She has published books by many well know celebrities including Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1998, she told the Dallas Business Journal that her favorite part of the literary business is brokering ideas. Miller said, "I determine what people are thinking." She also said, "I like making people rich."


According to one publishing executive, Martin and Fulton indicated that foremost the book will center on the roles of race, religion, and faith. The Times pointed out that a book about a fatal shooting and a subsequent trial has the key ingredients that attract cable television. The Times reached out to Miller for comment, but she did not respond.
