Why stop there, the could just shoot the immigrants and avoid the cost of razor wire, either that or just put them in concentration camps, a favorite solution of prior authoritarians

Well, that is a bit extreme. My personal suggestion is that upon being arrested, they are shipped to a holding camp until their trial and while at the camp are given a non-paying, mandatory camp job doing stuff like cooking, cleaning, building housing (open barracks style or nearly so), and the like. Once tried and convicted, they are deported. ALL personal possessions other than clothing on their backs is confiscated as ill-gotten gains of a criminal enterprise as part of that conviction.

They go home worked hard, penniless, and told next time we'll go even harder on them if they come back.

They're law breakers for camping illegally on public property. That means if they are asylum applicants they have broken the conditions under which they agreed to when they applied and are criminally in violation of federal law too. That means they are criminals subject to arrest and detention until trial and conviction.

It’s not a school play area, it’s a community center area.

The migrants were there for ONE FUCKING DAY because their former housing ran out of funding.
