The more that is learned about Obamacare, support for this plan decreases

No wonder Obama and the Dems wanted to rugh this thru before the people knew what was in it

5 Freedoms You'd Lose in Health Care Reform

snip

1. Freedom to choose what's in your plan

2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs

3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage

4. Freedom to keep your existing plan

5. Freedom to choose your doctors

1. Freedom to choose what's in your plan

If you get health insurance as part of a group, you likely don’t have this “freedom” already. Your group plan is designed to be best for the group as a whole not its individual members. If you are a man when most of the people in your group are women you likely have Obgyn coverage whether you need it or not while the women may have coverage for prostate health.

2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs

Again, if you are part of a group you likely don’t have this “freedom” either since your group rate is probably based on what it costs for the insurance company to make a profit by covering the most unhealthy member of your group.

3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage

Most Americans couldn’t afford high-deductible coverage because they couldn’t afford a sudden doctor’s bill without either insurance or government help.

4. Freedom to keep your existing plan

If most Americans had an existing plan, there would be no need to reform the healthcare industry and the issue of loss of “freedom” would be moot.

5. Freedom to choose your doctors

Does your existing plan or HMO give you this “freedom” already, or are you limited to choosing from among the doctors that your plan/hmo says are OK?

If an insurance plan lets you choose an "out of network" Dr. chances are you will pay quite a bit more money for the policy and for the out of network DR.

We are going down on everything. In the liberal 60's we led on most everything.

I do not weep for the USA. We did it to ourselves and deserve it.

If an insurance plan lets you choose an "out of network" Dr. chances are you will pay quite a bit more money for the policy and for the out of network DR.

Which means nobody is likely to lose their freedom to choose their doctor under any plan Obama and Co. create because most people cannot afford to choose their doctor as it is now.

Except for #3, I don't have these freedoms now. How can you lose something you never had?

There is a reason calls and letters to congress were running 15-1 against this legislation. Its not just people on the right either. The independents don't want this crap either because freedoms are lost.

The real clue for you is that no member of the Congress (or their union voters) are willing to go on record and state that they will also use this healthcare system.

You can argue that the sky isn't really blue, but that doesn't change the facts.

Obamacare WILL ration care. The government WILL decde what coverage you get. A panel WILL decide what medical procedures are covered. Illegals WILL be ocvered at US Taxpyer expense. You WILL not have a choice to take coverage - you MUST take coverage

So much for hope and change

It is more like no hope and pocket change

Does public opinion running against the reform plan going through Congress mean that reform of the healthcare industry is not needed?

Not when you see the breakdown of the uninsured

Typical. YOu start a thread making snesationalist claims. When someone refutes most of them, you ignore that to focus on the one tiny bit of info that has not bee refuted.

Tell us that you have all of those freedoms now?? Can you?

I answered a question

Under Obamcare you will not be able to buy private ins, you will not be able to choose your coverage level, you will have a say in what procedures are covered, and if you do not want coverage you will be fined (i.e taxed)

5. Freedom to choose your doctors

Let me restate what someone else has already said:

If you have a health insurance policy thru any group plan, you do not have the ability to choose what is in your plan right now.

You do not pay your real costs now. Otherwise, what the hell good is insurance?

#4 is an outright lie. You do get to keep your existing plan. You do not get to sign up for new coverage or sign onto a new company plan if you change jobs. But you do get to keep your existing coverage.

Under most insurance plans you do not get to choose your own doctors and have it covered. Most plans have a network or preferred list of Drs. If you go outside that list you either pay a greater percentage (which means you are fined) or the insurance doesn't pay.

So out of 5 things you claimed, only one is even close to being the truth. And one is an outright lie. The rest are not things most of us who have insurance will lose.

Wrong on all counts

Following the mad recommendations of Peter Singer made in NYT's Sunday magazine, it pays to take a look at what is actually in the healthcare bill.

It's worse than you can possibly imagine. Somehow, it manages to be Singer on steroids. Who wrote this bill. It has Singer's footprints all over it.
