Nimbyism is driving up housing prices. It is hyper localism, combined with generational warfare driving up housing prices. The residents of an area get a vote on the development, but the potential residents get no local votes.

The fact is that while homeowners are looking to increase values faster than income increases, houses will be unaffordable.
