A technocracy, the ultimate form of government

For those of you who don't know what a technocracy is it is this.

Technocrats are individuals with technical training and occupations who perceive many important societal problems as being solvable with the applied use of technology and related applications. The administrative scientist Gunnar K. A. Njalsson theorizes that technocrats are primarily driven by their cognitive "problem-solution mindsets" and only in part by particular occupational group interests. Their activities and the increasing success of their ideas are thought to be a crucial factor behind the modern spread of technology and the largely ideological concept of the "information society".

In short, a technocracy is a society run by technical experts who use that expertise to solve the problems of society, they are not influenced by organizations or corporations or lobbyists, they use their problem solving abilities to tackle all challenges.

With the emergence of AI it would be the ideal time to switch our government over to a technocracy where actual experts run the government instead of the popularity contests we have going on now.

A technocracy is just an oligarchy by another name.
No thanks.

It's actually nothing at all like an oligarchy.

It is similar. You are ruled by small groups of people deemed better.

How are they better? not by getting wealthy and succeeding, but by a group of insiders deciding they have the correct knowledge and wisdom

sounds horrible

A technocracy is not ruled by a small group of people, it would be the same as we have today.

The only difference is you put people into political positions who deal with issues from a scientific view instead of a political one.

For instance, the department of transportation would not have some friend of the president running it, it would have an engineer who actually knows how to build roads or whatever else that department deals with. They would be experts in the field they are assigned to work.

We would still have a president, a congress, and a supreme court.

The only difference is how they go about solving problems.

It is an oligarchy. That is a dictatorship by committee. That is what a technocracy is.

You guys have no clue what a technocracy is.

Oligarchy: A system governed by a few powerful people.

Technocracy:A form of government by people with knowledge about science and technology

A technocracy is a model of governance wherein decision-makers are chosen for office based on their technical expertise and background. A technocracy differs from a traditional democracy in that individuals selected to a leadership role are chosen through a process that emphasizes their relevant skills and proven performance, as opposed to whether or not they fit the majority interests of a popular vote.

The individuals that occupy such positions in a technocracy are known as "technocrats." An example of a technocrat could be a central banker who is a trained economist and follows a set of rules that apply to empirical data.

Could be worthwhile to replace the Supreme Court with an AI system.

a small group of people decide who has "knowledge about science and technology"

you don't understand that

Yea, let's let idiots like this "expert" tell us what we should do...

Power and money will corrupt them. Can you name anyone like that that is running for president?

Not possible, since most politicians never studied science.
For instance, the department of transportation would not have some friend of the president running it, it would have an engineer who actually knows how to build roads or whatever else that department deals with. They would be experts in the field they are assigned to work.
The government doesn't built roads. They contract with private companies that know how to build roads already.
We would still have a president, a congress, and a supreme court.
We currently do not have a president.
The only difference is how they go about solving problems.
Building a road isn't 'solving a problem'. Governments don't want to solve problems. The primary success metric of any government or government agency is to justify itself. It appears to be there to 'solve' a problem, when in fact they don't. If they did, they could no longer justify themselves.

Remember, the success metric of a government or government agency is NOT profit or efficiency.

Sounds psychotic to me.

We don't need a technocracy.

We possibly, maybe probably, need a benevolent socialist dictator,
only because we've allowed ourselves to get too fucked up
to be repaired democratically.
