It is mostly software, not electronics. And the software gains are difficult to measure. Technological revolutions do not end. The agricultural revolution is still with us. We have not given up farming, nor have we given up industry.
OK, we should take a step back and understand the progress that has been made, and will in theory be made. Before the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution, humanity doubled production every 250,000 years. After the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution, humanity doubled production every 900 years. After the Industrial Revolution, humanity doubled production every 15 years. That has continued up to today. If the next revolution(the so called Technological Singularity) is as big, then we should see humanity doubling production in between a week and a quarter. Even the longest of those numbers put production being 16 times higher every year.
Can Republicans block that from happening in the USA? Maybe they can for a time, but every week they block it we fall further behind.
Think about this, if we turn down the generosity of the aliens, what is to keep the rest of the world from taking it?

He would gain no market share unless he cut prices drastically. We saw that with Walmart. It was able to use low cost Chinese goods to capture market share, but only by passing on the cost savings to the consumer.
