Well after over almost 60 years of automation they have got it down where it runs pretty good.It has, yet we are just as productive as a nation as ever. I remember reading back in the 1960s that robotics was going to cost thousands of Americans their jobs. And it did.
So what do we do about those unskilled laborers who can't be trained to set up and monitor the automation in a factory?
and some of the line jobs can and are done by people with lesser ability to be trained for a skilled trade job.
I was in production for years then finally got an apprenticeship and became an industrial electrician.
I am a big backer of people getting a skill . tradesmen are in big demand right now and the jobs pay really good.
Even an apprentice earns really good money.
And in the auto industry they get over $30 / 35 an hour , and Journeymen are up well over 40 an hour.
Working with any wheres form 120 Volts up to over 2000 volts , mostly 440 three phase can be very dangerous so they get paid very well.
And in my case not only did I get paid , the company also paid for all my schooling . and required trips to Detroit .
