Billions in taxpayer dollars are being used to pay tuition at religious schools throughout the country, as state voucher programs expand dramatically and the line separating public education and religion fades.

School vouchers can be used at almost any private school, but the vast majority of the money is being directed to religious schools, according to a Washington Post examination of the nation’s largest voucher programs.

In general, of course they do, just like private colleges generally offer a better education than State colleges.

And they should, private schools can flush students they don’t want, they can pick and choose who they admit, public schools can not be selective, they have to educate anyone who walks thru the door, it is the law

The question becomes is it right for the taxpayer to pay for the education of the chosen at the cost of lost funding for public schools?

Maybe those students have a chance at a decent education.

Funds are available for all.

That's what angers you Marxists - the idea that the poor and middle class have the opportunity for legitimate education instead of the indoctrination of government schools.

You fear a population who can think.

That's why the left took over education to make people stupid. We can presently see the fruits of their labor

Wrong, money to pay private school tuition is pulled from public school funding, did you think States approve separate private and public educational funding

Ah, surprising then the States with the highest educational achievement, the more educated citizenry, happens to be Blue States .https://usafacts.org/articles/which-states-are-the-most-educated/ )now how do you explain that fact

As if we didn’t already support them by their property tax and other exemptions.

What's wrong with that? Vouchers basically allow parents to redirect their tax money, that would have gone to government schools, to the school they want it to go to.

Because it is not the duty of the US to pay for religious education.

We're talking about individual's tax money. Should they not be able to spend it on the school of their choice? Should they be forced, no matter how shitty the public schools, to put their money toward paying for it?
