They saw that the most direct way to keep them from continuing to live in grinding poverty was to provide them with a basic level of economic assistance, which as time passed, grew to include other forms of assistance like housing and educational opportunities in the form of scholarships and affirmative action in college admissions.
Unfortunately, the majority of blacks lacked the drive and ambition to take full advantage of the good faith offerings, preferring instead to drop out of high school, hang around the hood, play basketball, join gangs, get involved in using and selling drugs and violent behavior.
And now unappreciative blacks like you want to bite the hand that tried to help you and blame them for you own shortcomings.

Black poverty rates were plummeting before LBJ's "Great Society".
Giving Black students 200 SAT points only ensures they will struggle at the bottom of the class.
Black Americans have plenty of drive and ambition, silly boy.
Poverty rates for everyone were dropping by then, but it was still a problem that needed to be addressed. And the social programs that were created under LBJ, contrary to what you apparently assume, were not meant for blacks exclusively. There were plenty of poor whites in rural America at the time, whose lives were improved by those government efforts.
I'm not surprised that you assumed they were only aimed at black people though. I'm sure you're so desperate to support your goofy nonsense about blacks being targeted by lib'ruls with the intention of forcing them into failure, that you'll say anything.
As for the SAT scores, there are varying views on the interpretation of "giving" them 200 extra points. I cannot find any confirmation of the veracity of your claim. But let's just say for the sake of argument that it's true. Blacks still score lower than everyone else in spite of such efforts, so how does that translate into whites targeting them for failure when they're failing even worse without the efforts in question?
