Well either that or she is really really stupid, I don't think I can ever recall a politician making a statement that is so completely non believable.
Here's what she said:

"And on concerns that Democrats might control both the White House and Congress she said the following:
"Elect us, hold us accountable, and make a judgment and then go from there. But I do tell you that if the Democrats win, and have substantial majorities, Congress of the United States will be more bipartisan," said Pelosi. "

Yep, the bigger the Dem majority the more bipartisan congress gets!

I mean does she think anyone would ever believe that? I don't even think Desh would. She must think voters are really really dumb.

Pelosi is not the only one who thinks we are all very, very stupid. Most politicians operate on that concept.

And, if you look at a large portion of the population, the politicians are absolutely correct.

Just because I hate bipartisanship doesn't mean Pelosi does.

The only thing worse than Democrats and Republicans is when they work together.

Well, the obvious question is "more bipartisan than what?" If the relevant metric is the level of bipartisanship that existed when the Republicans controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress I don't see how her statement could be wrong.

Not particularly, the question is would it be "more bipartisan" than we have now. She's trying to convince people that it would grow even more "bipartisan" than the past two years because they have a 10% approval rating or something equally impressive.

They are bipartisan in a bad way. both are now mostly controlled by corporate interests.

Perhaps one should call it boughtpartisainship.

I really hope they're not bipartisan. It's time to totally undo everything the Republicans have accomplished since 1994.

will not happen much since corporate interests control many of the dems as well.

Depends on what you want to see happen.

I don't expect they'll pass a real national healthcare initiative that actually makes health care free like it should be, but at least they won't be giving my money to rich people.

Not as much finiancial regulations as we need will be passed either. Businesses too big to fail will just get bigger, etc.

No. The only only people who don't believe in big regulatory reform are the idiots on the internet on on talk shows. Everyone in washington (even Greenspan) is on board with regulatory reform. And you know what? Nobody's suggesting getting rid of the CRI because it has nothing to do with anything. It's regulation, dummy, and everyone knows it.

It will be done.

Talk is easy, lets see how the walk goes.
Greenspan needs no campaign contributions.

I'd be interested to see the reasoning for that. There is a possibility that they COULD be more bipartisan; it's hard to get any worse than the past 7+ years. It's possible she's counting on the idea that Republicans will have to moderate & meet the Dems halfway to earn more seats in both houses from voters ultimately.

I think people will be surprised by Obama. I think he has much more potential to look for consensus & encourage it than Bush did. Even with plans like healthcare, he's going to have to appeal to a lot of conservative Dems, who are almost the same as liberal Republicans...

Joe The Plumber says Bipartisanship is like date rape!...oh, wait, that was actually Trent Lott, back when R’s held a majority and didn’t bother telling Democrats what they were voting on. My bad.

But Joe the Plumber agrees! Also (lol) he says it smells like socialism to him!
