Don't make me add a rule...

If The Anonymous is banned from a thread, I have been removing the post and adding the original poster to the thread ban so they can't do that any more.

However, I don't want to spend all my time deleting a post from The Anonymous and finding the original poster and banning them too. So, pay attention, if you are going to use The Anonymous to post in a thread from which The Anonymous is banned, you may be banning yourself... and if I have to make a rule it will be even more strict.

Just quit doing it.

Legina needs a good banning.

Sounds like a lot of work. Why not just ban "The Anonymous" function? Besides, all the usual suspects generate sock puppets like sows spitting out piglets.

Dude.
The 'Anonymous Function' is highly creative and can work interesting interaction between the Parties involved.
Sadly, Legina has abused this feature.

Disagreed. I've only seen it used for trolling; nothing of substance.

While I enjoy the light moderation and loose rules of this forum, things like the "Anonymous function" just muddy the waters, not add to the conversation. The trolls and sock puppets have plenty of tools already. This function is redundant.

'The Anonymous' is more than one person?

That's just weird.

I don't see any useful function there.

Everybody should pick one name and stick with it.

I came to talk about just plain politics, not all this game-playing.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, so just post what you believe and let the discussion flow. What's with all the game-playing?

I don't need to pretend to be somebody else to state my view.

I think all this identity game playing is not good for the political discussions.

It hurts the board.

It would be better if each participant were allowed only one identity, period.

I know we don't like rules around here but we have to have a few basic ones.

I asked about that when I saw Legion using Anonymous to start threads but banning Anonymous from them. The ruling on it was they don't work on Anonymous and Legion was within the rules.

When you go to a Forum, it's more than just honest discussion. Trolls are about, teasing and playful ribbing occur, inner feelings about race and religion emerge. The 'polite face' one carries in public is shed and the stark animal of the human is exposed. IMO, the Anonymous Feature is brilliant, very creative, and can be used in many ways.
I always support 'Thread Bans', even tho I rally against them in public. Delicate People need to be protected, I support that concept.

'Game Playing'. Yes. Many come for just this sort of activity.

It is used to either troll, evade thread bans, or to post scurrilous gossip and insults the author is too cowardly to post under their normal handle

Jar Jar Binks defending Legina ... a sad day in JPP history. :(

It's a troll playground. That "polite face" is already shed by the use of an anonymous user name. Since people can have, some some use, unlimited sock puppets, why is the Anonymous Function even necessary? No doubt the Trolls like it, but as the OP points out, it just makes more work for the mods.
I doubt they're being paid by the hour. :)

It adds mirth, fun, and excitement.
You have no idea who the person is. Friend? Foe? Stranger?
You know who 'Jack' is because you've seen his posts a dozen times.
But 'Anonymous'?
Yes. Legina abused the Feature. And yes, nothing will happen to Legina. Ya' see, Dutch ... Legina has his head way up in Grind's ass, I mean way up in there.
Now, I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but did you know Legina has a pair of autographed knee pads from Grind? Yes, sad but true.

The Anonymous can't work around post limit counts as it only works in areas where the post limit count doesn't exist. If they use The Anonymous to start the thread, it isn't likely to get around a post count limit. Anyway, if they use The Anonymous to post a thread that they ban The Anonymous from, I will normally delete the thread.

I don't think I've seen anyone banning The Anonymous from discussion outside me and the time Legion did it. Unless of course it's buried in with one of those 50 some name lists of Teflon or Legion.
