sep 6 2024 The father of the 14-year-old boy suspected of killing four people during a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder for allegedly allowing his son to have access to a weapon.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that the father had been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.

GBI Director Chris Hosey said that the charges stemmed from the father “knowingly allowing his son” to “possess a weapon” but did not provide any further details.

If a parent allowed a 14 y/o to drive a car and that 14 y/o intentionally ran someone over, especially if there was a history of threats and erratic behavior, my guess is that the parent would be charged.

If a parent letd a 16 or 17-year-old take the car who has been drinking or they know they are going to a party the kid gets drunk kills five people then yes the parents should be charged

So a parent that buys his 15 year old a car... Lets him drive it around and kid kills people the parents should not be charged?

Possibly. Possibly not.

There are millions of different possible scenarios you could dream up for the next decade, but it all boils down to the fact that if a reasonable adult should have been able to foresee something bad happening and they did nothing or contributed to the death or injury of other people, then they will be charged, no matter what was used as a weapon. Gun, car, knife, etc.

That's the way the system works now so there is no double standard going on as the half-witted OP claims.
