For you folks who support profiling, the IRS was right to scrutinize Tea Party!

Really? How is it a blatant violation of 501c4?

501(c)(4) organizations are not permitted direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.[36]

during the 2004 campaign the NAACP ran ads trying to link Bush to the dragging death of James Byrd......do you admit that might at least look like participation in a political campaign in opposition to a candidate?.......

look at it this way.....if the above is NOT a violation what on earth could a Tea Party group do, that was?.......

Oh...I don't recall anyone saying that the NAACP doesn't get involved in politics...do you? But they fit the mold of the IRS's defintition of PRIMARILY a social welfare organization a HELL of a lot better than the Tea Party.

Under section 501(c)(4) of the tax code, which governs what are known as "social welfare" organizations allows them to spend up to 49 percent of their money directly attacking or promoting candidates for office.

the only reason the NAACP is involved in this thread is because they were investigated for a possible violation of the act......whether they "fit the mold" has nothing to do with it.....that is the reason the attempt to equate the two issues is laughable......;

????.....uh, no......when it says they may not do it that does not mean they can do it "almost" half the time.....it means they may not do it......they are allowed to promote political ideas.....they are not allowed to target candidates either favorably or unfavorably.....

WRONG...

501(c)(4) organizations are generally civic leagues and other corporations operated exclusively for the promotion of "social welfare", such as civics and civics issues, or local associations of employees with membership limited to a designated company or people in a particular municipality or neighborhood, and with net earnings devoted exclusively to charitable, educational, or recreational purposes. An organization is operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare if it is primarily engaged in promoting the common good and general welfare of the people of the community.

501(c)(4) organizations may inform the public on controversial subjects and attempt to influence legislation relevant to its program and, unlike 501(c)(3) organizations, they may also participate in political campaigns and elections, as long as its primary activity is the promotion of social welfare.

I will repeat it a third time...
(ii) Political or social activities. The promotion of social welfare does not include direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

you will note that the words "more than 49% of the time" are not in the text.....

Yeah....so what the fuck is the Tea Party doing trying to get Tax Exempt status? They are nothing BUT a political organization....that's why I find the faux outrage amusing as hell....just another bawl baby attempt from the right to pin something...ANYTHING on the President.

It wasn't the tea party, fool.

sigh....another repeat necessary?.....and people wonder why I consider liberals to be stupid......

a 501c4 organization can be politically active...in support of ideas which promote social welfare......what would promote social welfare better than having the government balance its budget.......what a 501c4 organization cannot do is promote or oppose a particular candidate during an election.....

this is what it would have appeared to almost anyone with a brain, the NAACP did by running an ad blaming Bush for the dragging death of a black man.......now, they avoided the consequences of that by claiming the ad was only promoting hate crime legislation, but did that really fool anyone?.....

So you're saying that the Tea Party has not engaged in supporting or opposing candidates? Keep lying to yourself pal.

gosh you're dense......is the Tea Party a 501c4 organization?.......is the Democratic Party?.....the Republican Party?......

Various organizations around the country, including nationally, organized under the Tea Party name illegally in that they were formed solely to funnel money to political campaigns. They are not involved in social charity work. There is no such thing as a "Tea Party". The "Tea Party" is a nomer for these groups of connected groups with a singular purpose.

Oh...I see...they are all independent of one another....riiight.

If you think they are not, offer up some back up. Indeed, they are independent of each other. Even within a 'tea party' one is going to find libertarians, conservatives, and even the odd Democrat who's fiscally conservative.

So Howey favors taxing free speech. Who the fuck didn’t know that?

How about we tax the donated campaign funds of labor unions, the NAACP, AARP, ACORN and the rest of the tax exempt lefty organizations?

Read the fucking rules....

Do the “rules” say you must submit the names and addresses and e-mail addresses of every member and contributor? Do the rules say you have to list every speaker your organization had speak to them? Do the rules say you have to list every book you ever read? If that’s the rules, do they apply to everybody or just everybody that’s not a fucking crooked leftist?
