How about because legal proceedings have began?

How about because a great many people still didn't know about it, including me?

The government is what stops the worst of it.

The government is who has worked to bring an end to the times like those shown in the pic BAC posted.

The government is who will prosecute the people responsible for the robberies in the small town police force.

And they did not do it legally, they did it in the dead of night and depended on local rednecks to look the other way. And they depended on threats from more rednecks to keep the population from complaining.

Probably noone will prosecute them. It would be better to not have laws which make them able to snatch children in the first place.

Nope, never said that .. but it is commonplace in the south far more than in the north, midwest, west, or anywhere else in America.
