Howdy from Ron Mars

Did you run his IP address to see if it's already in use on JPP?

Part of the reason I rarely post anymore ... too many people trying to find out who you are.

I understand the necessity for finding duplicate posters and trolls on forum boards, however, I respectfully request that you limit your search to this website.

To the best of my knowledge I have never posted here before. I may be wrong however.

When joining any new board I always use the same name and avatar to avoid such accusations.

It also helps with finding old posting friends ... some of which may be here.

My nephew loved South Korea, how did you find it?

Loved it ... some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Some US servicemen never get outside the small towns around their bases and only see the Korean people trying to sell them stuff or in the juicy bars.

The country is beautiful. My best memory is one early morning, sitting on a hilltop with "my" radio, and looking out as the sun rose.

All I could see were mountain tops poking up through the fog or mist before the sun burned it off ... and I didn't have a camera.

I haven't posted on a forum board in awhile and now seemed like a good time to get back into it.

Looking forward to some fun discussions.

hey ron,,,I would welcome you but thats not how you will be treated,,this is not a very constructive forum and loaded with trolls,,
I can give you one good warning of two blatant trolls Legion and Anonymous who are the same person, legion posts about every 3 minutes non stop for 8-10 hrs a day and I was informed Anonymous is the same person

how this troll is allowed to continue speaks volumes about the lack of integrity of the forum,,

but good luck to you,,

When did you serve there? The younger of my two brothers served in SK 1970-72. He didn't like it at all.

Love the beautiful word-picture you painted of the fog and mountains.

Thank you for the welcome and warning. I'm a big boy and I know exactly what to expect on any forum board.

Things were bad on forum boards 4 years ago and I doubt much has improved.

yes most forums are bad,, but my experience here has been the standard response is to shoot down and name call on almost every comment,,,

if you try and have a constructive debate it ends up as a lost cause,,,

Late 80's ... Sorry to hear about your brother's experience there.

Depending on what he was doing he may never had a chance to get away into the countryside and experience the real Korea.

As an NCO I was able to travel a little and I took advantage every chance I could to get away from the base.

I had a Korean/American friend who was also an NCO in my Flight and we traveled together a few times.

I guess that depends on what your goal for being here is.

For me it's to make a point or to respond to someone else's point and then see what happens.

I don't waste much time on useless debates that end up with name calling ... make your point and let it stand.

That's such a wonderful way to see a new land and learn about its ppl. I'm afraid that my brother was a pretty closed-minded person. Mostly his impression was that the Korean kids (he called them "slicky boys") tried to steal from them every chance they got, so he must have assumed that everyone was like that. I'm glad you had a different experience. Have you ever returned there as a civilian?
