"Hush money to a porn star" would have ended most Dem political careers

I agree. Clearly Franken was simply being silly and didn't actually DO anything particularly bad. But it was bad form. It certainly should not have ended his Senate career and he may have over-reacted by stepping down, but he knew it was going to continue to be a casus belli for the Right.

That's why I actually think the Dems are the more "ethical" and "moral" party. They live their values. Franken realized this was bad form on his part and while not as horrific as 99.9% of the stuff Trump does on an hourly basis, still represented a disrespect for women that he felt morally obligated to atone for.

That's honorable, but it does show that the Right's morality is little more than window dressing for them, while the Left actually seems to try to live by their morals (if imperfectly)

Franken was a leading progressives. Shame on Democrats for harassing him.

If you saw the same pic with Donald Trump doing that would you be as sanguine about it? Personally I wouldn't. So I can only hold Franken to the same standards.

As I said it was an over-reaction to tank his career, but it was still something that if I saw from the Right I would be offended.

Seems trivial at best.

Being a man I find it pathetic that a comedian should lose his job over a gesture.

Did you read his last book "Giant of the Senate"? He does a great job explaining the GOP "De-Humorizer" approach in which anything "humorous" can and will be turned against a politician by the opposing side.

And I said it is false that it mimicked sexual assault. That's your interpretation. Odd, really.

What did it show? If someone grabbed a woman's breasts while she slept that would be, by definition and every known law, sexual assault. Since he didn't do that but rather MIMICKED it by putting his hands in the "grabby" position several feet away while she slept means it was mimicking sexual assault.

Now I do NOT believe Al would ever have intended to do something quite so unappealing but sometimes even great comics overstep the line and get into dodgy territory. Al did that in this case.

No offense, but too trivial to bother with.

I blame Amy Klobuchar for not coming to Franken's defense.

My party, unfortunately, has more than it share of cowards.

They've got devolved mutants.
We've got woke cowards.
This nation is totally fucked.

No but Clinton did commit felony perjury to try to hide his affair with an intern over 20 years younger than him. Something most CEOs would get canned for.

BTW: The FEC said Trump's Non Disclosure Agreement did not qualify as a campaign expense.

Clinton lost his law license for the perjury. I think he did not get charged for the perjury in the court case because it was not relevant to the outcome. They reached an agreement and his testimony was not relevant to the decision.

Trump did not get canned for his adultery or porn star affair.

The non-disclosure with Stormy was null and void as unenforceable because Trump did not sign it.

If it was not a campaign expense how was Cohen convicted for campaign finance violations?

The court voided all the non-disclosure agreements for Trump campaign workers for $450,000 after the lawsuit filed by Jessica Denson.

I don't see it as cowardice so much as living the values one holds. Even if a bit extreme (as it is in this case).

I'm sure he is devastated he can't practice law in Hope instead of Harlem.

Do they still make Klipsch loudspeakers in Hope?

Their Cornwall IVs are really good.
I regret not having bought a pair, but now, at my age, I'll just stick to the JBLs.

I don't know how much longer I'll be around, and my high frequency hearing is shot anyway.

Yes. $6,600. I have Tannoy. The Klipsch horn sound is too "honky" for me. I had some JBl l-100.

Tannoy always made a good speaker.

There are excellent dome tweeter / acoustic suspension speakers,
but back in the vacuum tube amplifier era, I thought they sounded a little muffled.

I remember when people raved over AR-3s in the early sixties, and for me, they did nothing.

I always leaned toward horns and bass-reflex instead.
For the past dozen years, roughly, I've had JBL JRX225s
which really weren't expensive at all
but work really well with modern era flat screen TVs.

The coaxial cables have banana plugs on the amplifier end
and quarter-inch live music jacks on the speaker end.

Different from the usual side-by-side Monster Cable which is like huge gauge lamp wire. .

Cornwalls are MUCH more expensive and much classier, too.
Too late to bother now, though.
