In a trade war between Canada/Mexico and the US - Who will win?

The answer is simple. The US will win. It is simple math. For the economically challenged, I will explain

Mexico's GDP is $1.8 trillion a year. Its exports to the US are $506 billion a year which is 28% of its economy

Canada's GDP is $2.1 trillion. Its exports to the US are $413 billion a year which is 19% of its economy

US exports to Mexico are less than 2% of our $27.7 trillion GDP

US exports to Canada are less than 2% of our $27.7 trillion GDP

Anyone thinking that Canada and Mexico are going to take a double digit hit to their economy by taking us on is fooling themselves. The EU can't spend enough to offset what we don't buy. So let them bloviate. They will cave in the end. They always do.

The economics lesson is free. What you do with it is up to you

Why do you want a trade war with two of our allies?

You never said started a thread saying you wanted in prior to the November 5 election.

You never demanded a trade war with allies anytime in your life prior to 8 weeks ago.

Obviously, your own independent principles and values aren't at stake here. You just committed yourself to being a mindless drone devoted to defending anything Trump blurts out of his mouth

LESS then 1% ???
You have a link to back this so called fact up?
Let's start with someone that agrees with you, that we should panic over this, but also agrees with me and understands that the US only gets about 1% of the total power in those districts from Canada.

from the NPR story above said:

Why the U.S. buys electricity from Canada

While electricity shared across the border represents less than 1% of the total power generated by both countries, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the trade is critical to ensuring that electric supply meets consumer demand.

Now, in the story they are saying it is important to "meet the demand" but the story does not explain that it is equivalent to 1 power plant and how often plants are shut down and load leveling occurs.

The reality is the impact with be so minimal as to be non existent and will show that we do not require any power from Canada...

Canada supplies power to over 6 Million HOMES ( at an avg of 4 people per home ) shutting power down would effect over 24 Million Americans .
IMO it would effect a lot more , companies, stores,
IMO Canada can do a LOT of harm to the US and the US economy.
We have the capacity to absorb the loss of power from Canada the power we have would be a little more expensive than the hydro generated electricity we buy from them though. BTW We here in Texas are not afraid of their threats.

So you lied.
You said Canada supplies the US with less then 1 % of its power,
Now read what you just posted

It does not matter the fact is if Canada shut down power to the US for a week or two it would cause Trillions of dollars in losses to the US consumers. not only in loss of food stores , loss wages , and more.
It is Trump that needs to wake up and see just what kind of damage this could to the American people

Canada is an enormous trade partner. Three-quarters of a trillion dollars a year would be sadly missed. https://ustr.gov/countries-regions/americas/canada Many companies would go down if it ended, and unemployment would soar. There is no reason to start this shit, except Trump is stupid. Many Canadians shop and vacation in America. They are talking about stopping. What is the payback worth this?
We are just asking Canda to police their border better and have EQUAL and fair trade. I don't see an issue with that.

Maybe he was only recently made aware of the dept of the problems.

That's like as "In a boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Steve Erkel, who will win?"

Thankfully the inflation rate dropped down to regular levels under Biden. Right now there's thrash on the markets precisely BECAUSE of fears of inflation.

So you better tell all your stock-market trader friends that they are mistaken.

And speaking of winning! Let's look at the Stock Market!!!!

You're pretty lucky not having a 401k. You guys with set pensions from blue-collar jobs better enjoy them. No one after you gets one.
