I was in a combat zone more than once. I received combat pay. Most of the time, I worked out of an air-conditioned office somewhere. The closest thing to combat was the base would have an alert and lockdown. So, you sat in your office waiting for it to clear. Nothing happened otherwise.
My job wasn't to kill people, it was to keep the lights on, make sure infrastructure was built properly, repair equipment, that sort of thing.

I get the USNI daily brief and it has nothing on serious losses or a US carrier being hit.
That's because there were no serious losses on carriers but they should admit to 10 or 12 reaper drones being shot down.
