It’s over. America has ceased to be leader of the free world

The entire world. People cannot trust trump's gestapo at the airports.

Today the Icestapo "disappeared" yet another grad student here on a student visa apparently for the crime of penning an op-ed piece. She was a student at Tufts in Mass.

It's getting truly scary that a bunch of randos in dark hoodies and who had face masks on just crowd around this young woman on the street and shuttle her off into a waiting SUV.

We really are in "the bad place" now. We are the Baddies.

No more room for doubt now. It’s over. The United States has ceased to be the leader of the Western alliance. That is the clearest and most significant message that emerges from this exchange of puerile texts – which a White House official has described as a “demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials” in the administration. If describing the European nations as a bunch of pathetic free loaders is what they do when they are being thoughtful and deep, what do they say when they are being shallow and irresponsible?

Getting this glimpse into what is (or should have been) the private thinking of the Trump White House is the most remarkable gift of Providence. By some bizarre accident, a journalist unconnected to the administration received top secret information on military planning, which in itself must constitute an illegal security breach, and gave us an unforgettable view into the American government’s attitude to its role in the world. Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of the Atlantic magazine, and the surprise beneficiary, was scrupulous enough to keep the sensitive military details from public exposure – for which he received no gratitude whatever from the White House.

Okay. So, who is now?

Okay. So, who is now?

That's the problem.

My money is on China. They are keeping their powder dry and doing this "road and belt" initiative buying up good will all over the place and developing infrastructure to ensure they have a shot at getting ahold of other country's goods well before or perhaps to the EXCLUSION of us.

We fucked it hard when we gave up our only "soft power".

Economically we also can't be counted on. The trade war circus is going to have long lasting effects. Sooner later people are going to drift over to a different currency basis. Again, the renminbi or yuan are my bets. MAYBE if we are lucky Europe will get its economic shit together and the EU will ascend to some greater influence.

Right now the ONLY thing America does FOR The earth is "consume". We are big fat consuming queen bees. SItting in our holes while the worlds shovels its goods into our gaping, drooling, festering gob.

That's not something that requires SKILL. Others can and will do it. We will fade away.

You don’t even want Trump to be the leader of this country . And you complain he’s not the leader of the free world?

If you see that the brainwashings in America have been nonstop and largely effective know that in Europe the situation is much worse.

The rub here is that those on the Left crying that the US is no longer leader of the "Free World" have no answer to who IS now the leader of the Free World. China isn't going to take that spot, neither is Russia.

History shows that there are always going to be 2 or 3 super-powers that vie for dominance either within a region, as in ancient times, or for world dominance. No single power will remain on top forever. There are short periods of time where a single power emerges, but it can't retain control for long. The US had that dominance from the end of WW 2 to about 1950 then the Soviet Union emerged as a rival. When the Soviet Union collapsed in the 80's the US returned to single super-power status to about 2010-ish. Now, China is emerging as the rival power. Russia's war in Ukraine shows they are no longer a global player or super-power but at best in second tier status now.

What the US has to do, and what China is doing, is rounding up allies and subordinate nations to increase their political dominance as a super-power. The big-ticket second-string players are:

Japan
Korea
Indonesia
India
the EU
Russia
Brazil

Biden and his minions grasped none of this. They tried to play it like it was still 1970 and the Soviet Union was the danger. If US leadership is halfway competent, they could easily line up every nation on that list with the exception of Russia against China. Even Russia is a possibility today. We don't live in a Cold War world anymore and we need to recognize that.

Maybe "leader of the free world" days are over, for any country. Maybe we're moving into a new era.

Which might not be the worst thing.

And we may not be in a Cold War, but Russia is a rogue, outlaw nation as long as Putin is in charge.

Russia is nothing. If Russia can't even steamroll over a nothing of a country in a war, and has a shitty economy, they aren't much of a threat.

There will be 1 or more, usually 2, occasionally 3, world powers. The US is one of those. The US needs to get its act together and build a solid alliance of smaller powers before China gobbles them all up or things will end badly.

One would have to be a part of the free world to be its leader, I would think.

America is no longer a part of the free world.
Its brain-dead citizens opted for fascism last November.
That’s what free elections are about. You think the lockdowns weren’t authoritarian?

Our system of govt. is now being viewed around the world as 'unstable'. Sure... Dem/Republican platforms over the decades varied to a degree, but our foreign policy was always solid. Since trump, it is evident that regime change every 4 to 8 years makes for treaties that are not honored, trade agreements that are not adhered to, and now immigration/visa issues that are all over the place.

The world chuckled as we had a 4 year glitch in '16, but now we've proven that ignorance rules the day, as well as the nation.
