Irrelevant appeal to authority. Did that information not exist before this age? What makes it exist now? The label is wrong.
No appeal, just reference to an “authority” you’re free to disregard but might help you learn something if you let it. The “age” is the new age in the spread of information, not information per se.

There is no "information age." The information has always been there. It is the Electronics Age. Electronics have allowed for that information to be organized and disseminated in an efficient manner. Television, the internet, and all the stuff on the internet are the result of electronics, not information.

Television, radio, computer networks, the telegraph, all work on electricity. The information they convey has always been there. These devices just allow for it to move around more efficiently where more people can access it.

Information age my ass.
Thanks for that, Terry.

That's because of electronics and electricity. The coupling of machines from the Industrial Age to electronics (computers) meant that an operator standing there manually making parts on it was no longer needed. Computers that did word processing, databases, and the like eliminated the need for skyscrapers full of clerks, typists, and other manual paperworkers to perform the administration and management of a large and complex business operation.

Electronics replaced sheer manpower for most simple, repetitive, work. That's the difference.

I saw a claim the other day that in just 5 years AI will eliminate 40% of white collar jobs.

I however note that American AI has been corrupted with WOKE training, and that we dont want to accept that the Chinese have won another race, so I tend to doubt it.
