Milley says Kyiv could fall within 72 hours if Russia decides to invade Ukraine:

Why is Ukraine a national security interest?
it's not.
It's a Russian border state with the east loyal to Russia.

This whole thing went awry because of impeachment (Vindman/Fiona Hill) who want to make it our business and has devolved from there ( and started back under Obama with US meddling in the Euromaidan)

Basically we are making Ukraine a pawn for our Cold War 2 games

So, the US has no interest in the border skirmish.

We need another George Patton.

Patton felt strongly that Americans should fight the wars directly, and that local resistance should be avoided. He was strongly against using British and French troops. He was strongly against giving a million rifles to the Philippines. After the war in Europe, he wanted to go to war with the Soviets, and even said he could invade as far as Moscow.

It is hard to apply everything that Patton did, but it can be reasonably argued that he would want to confront the Russians head on. He would not support having the Ukrainians defend themselves. He would be invading Russia. In many ways, it is the opposite of what America wants right now.

The best strategy is to make Ukraine very nasty to occupy. We do not want to go to war to defend Ukraine. It would be a war between nuclear powers. If we drove for Moscow, there would be nothing preventing Putin from nuking the USA.

this is fantasy more then current events

Several lawmakers expressed concern that the Biden administration did not respond quickly to provide Ukraine with significant military aid, such as anti-aircraft and rocket launcher systems that would defend against an invasion from Russia.

Biden administration officials at the meetings responded to these concerns by saying that a significant supply of military aid to Ukraine could be used as a reason to invade Ukraine. :palm:

While Ukraine is receiving security assistance from the United States through a $200 million allocation made in December, it is also receiving $600 million in assistance from the United Kingdom and Baltic states, which the country is depending heavily upon and includes anti-tank Javelin missiles and older-version Stinger portable anti-aircraft missiles.

What is fantasy?
That Russia would invade Ukraine?
Or that Kyiv would fall in 72 hours?
