Lets also remember that every Democrat elected president in the last 45 years was a southerner. (of course, there have been only 3....)

True and all three have been villified by southern conservatives for being apostates. Keep in mind also, in that 45 years. Only 4 Republicans have been elected President and only 1 was a quasi southerner.
