I pay county taxes. I pay local taxes. I pay sales tax on everything I buy. I pay gas tax. I pay state tax. I pay federal tax on my retirement withdraws. That should cover the schools.

I would assume that local property taxes would cover the schools.
I'm not familiar with a school tax.

Of course, I would prefer the schools be funded by federal income tax and controlled by the federal Department of Education.
With local rule, undesirable areas [such as red states] keep developing undesirable people.

The Feds only pay 8% of school funding, the other 92% is local which is why the quality of schools vary county to county and state to state.

How different locales raise money for school funding is up to them. Florida uses the Lotto. Texas uses real estate taxes.
