[h=1]Girl Abducted, Raped On Way To School[/h]
CHICAGO (CBS) – Police have issued a warning about a serious and disturbing attack on a child in the North Lawndale neighborhood.


CBS 2’s Brad Edwards reports, around 7:45 a.m. Monday, a 14-year-old girl was walking to school when a group of six men grabbed her off the street, forced her into a car, then drove her to a house, where they raped her.


The girl was abducted near 16th Street and Trumbull Avenue, according to police.

The suspects were all described as African-American men between 20 and 24 years old, between 5-foot-6 and 6-foot-3, and and 130 to 170 pounds.


Five of the suspects had long dreadlocks; one had brown tips, another had red tips. The sixth offender had a close fade haircut.


Three of the suspects had a dark complexion, two had a medium brown complexion, and one had a light complexion.


The vehicle they used was described as a gray four-door vehicle with damage on the right front end.


One suspect was wearing a black hoodie, another wore a green jacket, another was wearing an Abercrombie jacket, another wore a North Face jacket, another wore a white T-shirt.

CLEVELAND -- A man wanted in the brutal beating of his girlfriend has surrendered to police. Cleveland police say Johnny D. Whitfield is being held in the Central Prison Unit.

Whitfield will be charged with Felonious Assault and will appear in court Monday, November 5th, 2012.

His girlfriend, Arela Leidy has been in a medically induced coma inside MetroHealth's Intensive Care Unit since last Friday.

That's when Cleveland Police believe her ex-boyfriend, Whitfield, 35, beat her over the head with a roofing hammer.

The 24-year-old woman has two small children with Whitfield and they had been living together. Family says there was no sign of domestic violence before this.

Whitfield called friends after the attack, who called EMS and police after they discovered Leidy's body in the bedroom.

The children, a four-year-old boy and two-year-old girl, are staying with relatives. Family says they were in another room at the time of the attack.

[h=1]Arrest Made in Rape of Mentally Disabled Woman on LA County Bus[/h]
A man was arrested Friday in the rape of a mentally disabled woman aboard a near-empty Los Angeles County bus during rush-hour commute.

Authorities believe Kerry Trotter, 20, boarded the bus with the 18-year-old woman on Wednesday at a stop in suburban Culver City before she was followed to the back of the vehicle and assaulted.

It was the third rape so far this year on county buses that annually carry millions of people.

"This is an extremely rare occurrence," said Marc Littman, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Trotter was booked for investigation of rape and was being held on $1 million bail, authorities said. It wasn't immediately known if he had retained an attorney.


He has previous convictions for grand theft and possession of a controlled substance, according to online court records.


Sheriff's investigators said they received an anonymous tip that led to Trotter's arrest after an image of the suspected attacker taken by a surveillance camera on the bus was publicly released.


The attack lasted about 10 minutes before the man stopped and exited the bus, authorities said. After the assault, the woman, who has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, reported it to the driver who notified authorities, sheriff's Sgt. Dan Scott said.

[h=1]Taquita Watson, Caregiver, Sexually Assaulted 106-Year-Old Woman In Florida[/h]
An in-home caregiver sexually assaulted a 106-year-old woman who was bedridden, according to Florida police.

Taquita Lashay Watson, 29, of Pensacola, was arrested at about 2 p.m. Monday after investigators learned she used "a sexual instrument" on the woman whom she'd been assigned to care for over the past three months, according to a Pensacola Police report.


Cops are investigating whether Watson victimized any other patients.


She has worked as a caretaker for eight years, The Smoking Gun reported. In another police report obtained by the site, the Oct. 26 crime is described in gruesome detail:


Watson allegedly "took a [sex toy] and a jar of Vaseline from her pocketbook ... pulled [the victim's] pants and diaper down and told her that this 'would make her feel good.'" She reportedly assaulted the woman despite her screams and pleas to stop.


The victim waited for days until Watson left and called police. She was given a sexual assault examination, which revealed that she had "obvious signs of trauma" to her vagina, according to the police report.


Watson charged with sexual assault and held in lieu of $25,000 bond.

TMZ, who reported the allegations, said that Mr Clash had admitted he had a relationship with the man, but only after the accuser was an adult and said the accusations were both false and defamatory.

Uncle charged with murdering 6-year-old


A Delaware County man has been charged with murder in the beating death of his 6-year-old nephew, the district attorney's office announced.

Paul Adams, 38 of Wallingford, allegedly lashed Tyreece Charlow for 45 minutes with a large belt after the child would not listen or follow directions, according to court documents.

Jack Whelan, the district attorney will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. to give further details.

The child, a student at Nether Providence Elementary School, lived with Adams. After school the two attended a karate class in West Chester Borough. When they returned home after 10 p.m. the boy was getting ready for bed. When he would not follow instructions, Adams held the child's hands and hit him with a belt until he bled, according to police.

Adams cleaned the boy's wounds and put him to bed. When he went to check on him later, he found Charlow was unresponsive. He brought the boy to Crozer Chester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to court documents.

An autopsy revealed Charlow died of blunt-force trauma.

Male nurses caught on home video engaging in sex acts with 98-year-old stroke victim

San Diego nurses Russel Torralba and Alfredo V. Ruiz might face criminal charges after being caught on video performing sexual acts on each other and the patient.


Two male nurses might face criminal charges after apparently molesting a 98-year-old, bedridden stroke patient. The state of California is working to yank licenses issued to San Diego nurses Russel Torralba and Alfredo V. Ruiz, XETV reported.

While dressed in blue nurses uniforms, Torralba and Ruiz fondled one another and touched the hand and face of a helpless female patient, home video shows. In one incident, a nurse places the woman’s hand inside his pants, an attorney said.

The video “appears to show very egregious behavior,” Russ Heimerich, a spokesman for the state Department of Consumer Affairs, told the San Diego Union Tribune. “I don’t know if we’ve ever had a case that has a video like this. We are working to shut them down,” he said.

The video was one of several shot last year. The patient’s family had installed security cameras in her home to monitor the care provided by private 12-hour shift nurses hired through a company called AMS Home Care Solutions.

“What they saw was horrific,” said family lawyer William Berman of the nurses’ behavior. “These acts are unfathomable.”

The patient, who was not identified, is aware of herself and her surroundings but unable to call for help, Berman said. The nurses had been hired at a rate of $1,300 a day, U-T San Diego reported.

Suspect in Sacramento-area 'Roaming Rapist' case arrested


"The Roaming Rapist" pulled a young woman off a bicycle, hit her with a rock and attacked her. He jumped out from bushes to sexually assault a 38-year-old woman. He raped two teens in one incident, including a 14-year-old girl who briefly wrestled his gun away.

On Friday, a suspect who authorities say is the serial attacker responsible for sexually assaulting 10 females between 1998 and 2003 was in custody – two days after trailing officers grabbed a fast food drink he threw in the trash and had the straw tested for DNA.

"We have the right rapist," Sacramento County District Attorney Jan Scully said Friday as she announced 35 felony charges against Dereck Jermaine Sanders, declaring DNA evidence had linked the 39-year-old Isleton man to crimes of the attacker whom authorities had labeled the Roaming Rapist.

Women ages 14 to 42 across Sacramento County and the city of Sacramento were victims of the attacks, authorities said.

Authorities say Sanders was implicated in the case through a "familial DNA," which traced family characteristics to a brother, who is a convicted felon and recently had been arrested on three unrelated sexual assaults.

That evidence, matched with a California Department of Justice database, led authorities to Sanders' Isleton residence. Authorities then followed him to a McDonald's restaurant.

And after he drove to a nearby park, ate his meal and threw his bag, napkins, cup and straw into the trash, officers retrieved it for DNA testing.

"I can't really emphasize enough that this was the perfect marriage between technology and modern policing as well as old-fashioned detective work," said Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones.

Two gun-toting men attacked the family - apparently at random - before ransacking their home in Burien, Washington, and fleeing the scene.

They were seen jumping on the father, who is in his 20s, as he approached his home at around 9pm last night.

The pair then forced their way into the triplex and attacked both parents while the child slept through the chaos.

They are now searching for two African men, both of thin build, 5'7 to 5'9, aged 19 to 25.

Tracking dogs were put on the scent, but after a downpour, the responsibility for catching the suspects now lies with crime scene officers.

Sergeant John Hall, a deputy from the King County Sheriff Office, said: 'This is a very, very serious crime.'

Video Shows MTA Bus Driver Fighting With A Teen Passenger


Caught on camera–dramatic and disturbing new video shows an MTA bus driver fighting with a passenger. Now the agency is taking action.

Mike Hellgren spoke with the woman who shot the video. She says this was alarming to her as a regular rider. It happened at Baltimore and Paca streets Monday around 2 p.m. The driver is suspended without pay.

The video shows an MTA bus driver — who’s now been suspended — entangled in a fight with a high school student who was riding on her bus. That fight continues for roughly 30 more seconds as other passengers get out of the way. They struggled, moving from one end of the bus to the other, before things calmed down.

The bus driver went to the front while those who watched it unfold asked her how it happened. The woman who shot the fight says it started when the driver thought the teenage passenger was playing her music too loudly and stopped the bus to confront her. She asked us to conceal her identity.

“The only thing she did physically was get up to get off the bus. The bus driver grabbed her and they started to fight,” she said.

She says she never met the teenager before, that the teen seemed shaken and had scratches and a bite mark on her arm after what happened. “When she parked the bus, everything just went from zero to 60–that fast–to the argument,” she said.

The MTA says the driver has worked with the agency since 2003 and they are reviewing the video, as well as video from multiple cameras on board. “We have a no engage policy. Under no circumstances should our operators be fighting customers,” said Terry Owens, MTA spokesperson. “At the MTA, our highest priority is the safety of our passengers and our employees and we expect our employees to remember that at all times.”

3 teens charged in connection with Granite City murder


The family of a 54-year-old Army veteran who was shot to death in Granite City is relieved the four teenagers allegedly responsible for his death are behind bars and possibly facing life in prison.

"I figured he died in vain," said Charles A. Weiss' sister Kim Woolard, 52, of Granite City, and the police wouldn't be able to find those responsible. Woolard said she's glad that wasn't the case and thanked the investigators with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.

Three Madison teenagers were charged Tuesday in connection with first-degree murder, according to Granite City Police.

The following teens each were charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the homicide of Weiss: Markeith Reynolds Jr., 15, of the 900 block of Iowa Street; Shawn L. Russel, 15, of the 1700 block of Second Street; and Brian L. Taylor, 16, of the 1100 block of McCambridge.

All three teenagers, who are friends, were charged as adults and remain in the custody of the Madison County Juvenile Detention Home, said Maj. Jeff Connor with the Granite City Police Department. A fourth suspect remains in custody in the Madison County Juvenile Detention Home, but his case remains in juvenile court since he is younger than 15. Connor said there will be a certification hearing to determine if the fourth suspect's case will be moved to adult court.

Weiss was found shot at 9:25 p.m. Thursday in an alley near the 1200 block of Meridian Avenue in Granite City. Before he succumbed to his injuries, Weiss told police that "they tried to rob me." Police wouldn't disclose what if anything was taken from Weiss.

"This case stemmed from an attempted armed robbery that led to the shooting death of Mr. Charles Weiss," Connor said. "This was a random crime, which actually made this a difficult crime to solve. It was a crime of opportunity for these thugs. They saw this man; they waited in the alley for him, ambushed him and shot him."

Granite City Police Chief Rich Miller said Weiss was "gunned down in cold blood. (He) was doing nothing wrong other than walking to a local business."

Weiss died from a single 9mm gunshot wound to the chest.
