A band of young women shoved a 27-year-old woman to the ground on the Upper West Side, stole her purse, and then used her credit cards to shop on the Upper West Side, police said.

The group came up on the woman from behind as she was walking on West End Ave. by W. 74th St., cops said, knocking her to the ground around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Her credit cards were then used at two Upper West Side Duane Reade stores, according to authorities.

The woman suffered bruises to her face, arm and foot, but didn’t go to a hospital.

Cops released video of five suspects wanted for questioning — including one wearing a t-shirt that reads “Dream all day, sleep all night.”

[h=1]2 Dead, 3 Wounded In Shooting At Memorial For 2009 Murder Victim[/h]

davon-barrett-and-devin-hamb.jpg
Davon Barrett (left) and Devin Hamb (right) were killed when someone opened fire on a group of people gathered for an annual memorial for Barrett's younger brother, who was slain in 2009.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Insanity. That’s how a city leader and a victim’s relatives described a shooting that left two dead and three wounded as loved ones were remembering a man who was killed seven years ago.

Relatives identified one of the victims as 38-year-old Davon Barrett, who was outside with about a dozen other people for a solemn annual tradition: a memorial for his brother, 17-year-old Martell Barrett, who was shot and killed in 2009, only blocks away from Sunday night’s crime scene.

Every year since Martell’s death, his family and friends have gathered on his birthday to pay tribute. Sunday night, five people were shot on the front porch of a home in the 2000 block of West 68th Place around 11:10 p.m., all of them friends or relatives taking part in a memorial gathering for Martell.

Witnesses said the shooter was wearing all dark clothing, and fired from at least 30 yards away into the crowd. Family members said they’re not sure what prompted the shooting.

Ald. Toni Foulkes (16th) called the attack senseless. “It’s insanity to me that people would shoot in a crowd of people. You know, who does that? If you’re after someone, you take that up personally with one-on-one. You don’t come and shoot in a crowd of people. It could have been little kids out here, or seniors, and I know these people, and it’s hard,” she said.

Davon Barrett’s aunt, Quincetta Graham, said she’s “heartbroken” and “shattered to pieces” over the shooting. “It’s like some days I wish that summer would never come, because when summer comes, it brings violence, and that’s just the reality that we have to live in. That’s the reality that we have to live in. If we get 80 degrees, sunny, that means we’re kind of sitting back and saying somebody’s going to get shot today,” Graham said.

Davon Barrett and another man died of their injuries. Relatives identified the second man who died as 26-year-old Devin Hamb, a friend who was attending the gathering for Martell. Three other people were wounded in the shooting, including a 27-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old boy.

[h=1]Two Charged In Home Invasion Sex Attacks[/h] April 27, 2016 10:54 AM

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) — Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the robberies and rapes of two Baltimore County men that were reported just a day apart last month, according to police.

James Darnell Johnson, 27, of Chesterfield Avenue, and Shakir Agyei Mitchell, 23, of York, Pennsylvania, are accused of carrying out the attacks on two victims who say they were sexually assaulted and then robbed at gunpoint.

Both suspects are being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center on felony charges of first-degree assault, first-degree sex offense, false imprisonment, first-degree burglary, armed robbery, and other related counts, according to online court records.

On March 6, a Dundalk man told investigators he offered two men in a dark-colored SUV $10 for a ride home from work. When they got there, the driver pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill the victim unless he did what they said, the victim said. Once they went inside, the driver allegedly restrained the victim and then sexually assaulted him. Before they left, the victim said, the second suspect stole his television, clothes and some cash.

The next day, officers dispatched to a home in Woodlawn discovered a man bound at his hands and feet. He told investigators the plans he had made with another man on the classifieds website Craigslist had taken an unexpected turn when two men showed up at his door instead, both of them armed with guns. Things turned violent once the men entered the home, he said, and one of them sexually assaulted him before they took off with his video game system and cash.

A couple was arrested after a wrong chicken wing order led to a gun being waved inside a North Carolina restaurant, police said.

Clarissa Gagum, and Rasheem Gagum, both 24, were arrested following a Thursday incident at FU Wangz in Wilmington, WECT reported.

Wilmington police said Clarissa began arguing with the clerk after she received boneless wings instead of the bone-in wings she ordered. Clarissa then went to her car to grab a gun, which she waved when she went back into the restaurant, police said.

Officers found Clarissa still holding the gun outside the restaurant, police said. She was charged with two counts of assault by pointing a gun and injury to personal property, while Rasheem was charged with resisting arrest.

The husband and wife had bonded out of jail by Thursday evening.

[h=1]Man Arrested in Fatal Stabbing of 2-Year-Old, Wounding of Pregnant Mother in South L.A.[/h]
A 22-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a two-year-old girl to death and critically wounded the child’s pregnant mother in South Los Angeles Monday night has been arrested, police said during a news conference Tuesday morning.

Lataz Gray, 22, is seen in an image provided by the Los Angeles Police Department on May 3, 2016.

Lataz Gray was arrested at an area hospital after deciding to turn himself in on the advice of his father, said Det. David Garrido with the Los Angeles Police Department. Gray allegedly stabbed 2-year-old Maliaya Tademy multiple times during an argument with his live-in girlfriend, said Capt. Peter Whitingham with the Police Department. The toddler was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The stabbing in the 3500 block of Arlington Avenue was first reported to police about 9:50 p.m. Monday.

“This was one of the most vicious incidents that I have … seen and been a part of in my 28 years in this police department,” Whitingham said.

The girl’s mother, identified as 22-year-old Ebony Epps, was also stabbed multiple times during the attack, Whitingham said. Epps, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition Monday night, was still under sedation and unable to talk to investigators Tuesday morning, Garrido said. She was about 5 months pregnant at the time of the attack, Whitingham said, adding that the fetus did not appear to be injured.

Gray, a known gang member, was not related to the little girl killed in what was described by Whitingham as a vicious case of domestic violence. Gray has a history of violence, robbery and other offenses and was expected to be booked on suspicion of murder, Whitingham said.

Whitingham commended Gray’s father contacting his son and convincing him to turn himself in. “Had it not been for him we would still be out looking for the suspect,” Whitingham said.

Mother of children chained outside San Antonio house found in California

The mother of two children discovered chained up outside a San Antonio home has been found in California. Authorities had been searching for the woman since Friday, when a neighbor called police after hearing the cries of a 2-year-old boy chained to the ground and a 3-year-old girl tied to a door with a dog leash.

Porucha Phillips faces charges of injuring a child after two children were discovered tied up outside her house.

Porucha Phillips, 34, was arrested Friday after returning to the home, and remains in jail on $150,000 bail after being charged with two counts of injury to a child. Her own six children, ranging in ages from 10 months to 10 years, were found unattended inside the house. The toddlers who were outside were not her children, which led investigators to searching for their parents.

On Monday the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office told the San Antonio Express that the unidentified mother had been found more than 1,000 miles away in California over the weekend.

All eight children discovered at Phillips’ home are now in the custody of Child Protective Services, after two left outside were found dehydrated with bruises and the 3-year-old girl had a fractured arm.

In addition to the 2-year-old and 3-year-old found outside the home, six children of Phillips were found unattended inside.

Bexar officials confirmed to KEN5 on Monday that in addition to the eight children in her home, Phillips is pregnant with her seventh child. It is not clear how far along she is.

The sheriff's office has said that those wishing to help the children found at the home should donate to local child abuse victim organizations.

Family friends said she was kept on life support at Bellevue Hospital so out-of-state relatives could say their goodbyes, and for organ donation. Sarina Agard-Forde, 18, is accused of pummeling Ta’Jae in the head until she lost consciousness. She’s charged with felony and misdemeanor assault, though prosecutors expect to bring more serious charges, said a Brooklyn district attorney’s office spokeswoman.

Family friend Lissette Pizarro saidTa’Jae was walking her 11-year-old brother to the store when a group of teens approached, made a remark and then attacked her.

School sophomore loved colorful outfits and performed dance routines with a group of classmates. “She was very kind-hearted, loving, outgoing,” Pizarro said.

Community activist Tony Herbert on Tuesday called on anyone else involved in the assault to surrender to police. “A 17-year-old girl was attacked by people who looked just like her, you know. Black lives matter,” Herbert said in a Facebook video post.

Woman Arrested After Argument Over Hot Sauce Turns Violent: Cops

8225865_orig.jpeg

BURBANK, IL — A fiery dispute over packets of hot sauce led to a heated argument and the exchange of blows between an unhappy customer and a Popeyes Chicken employee, police said.

Tondalea McElroy, 36, of Burbank is facing a charge of battery stemming from the incident.

The ruckus erupted about 12:49 p.m. Thursday, April 28 inside the Popeyes Chicken, 4809 W. 77th St., Burbank. Police were dispatched to the restaurant following reports that a customer was physically fighting with an employee.

According to police documents, officers en route to the scene were advised the customer had left the restaurant. They found a woman in a nearby parking lot matching the description of the person involved in the melee — a female wearing all white with a leg brace — later identified as McElroy.

McElroy allegedly told police she was dining at Popeyes and requested more sauce from the cashier. McElroy said she was arguing with the cashier about payment for sauce when the employee reached over the counter and punched her in the face, the police report said.

The female cashier told police that after placing a food order, McElroy approached the counter, demanded hot sauce, and became angry when she was told she would have to pay for the packets.

According to the cashier, McElroy said, “Bitch, get me some more of that hot sauce.” The cashier said that after telling her it was against policy to give free sauce packets, McElroy threw a cup of iced tea at her face.

According to a witness, the cashier then walked around the counter and the two women began fighting. Popeyes employees separated the women and McElroy left the restaurant.

The incident was captured on store surveillance video. The responding officer said store video showed the cashier did not reach across the counter and strike McElroy as she claimed.

Police said the video showed that McElroy threw a beverage at the cashier, after which time the cashier walked around the counter and threw a beverage at McElroy.

“Both parties then began to strike each other at the same time about the face as mutual combatants,” the police report stated.

Police said McElroy did not have any visible injuries as a result of the altercation. The cashier had redness and swelling on her face with several scratches but refused medical treatment.

McElroy was transported to the Burbank Police Department where she was processed and released on a $150 bond. She is due in court May 19 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

ANNANDALE, Va. -- Authorities say the northern Virginia man accused of accidentally leaving a 2-year-old girl strapped in a car for hours, leading to her death last week, had no right to drive and drank a beer at his girlfriend's home as the child sweltered inside the vehicle.

Investigators say Fields didn't realize that the toddler, reportedly his girlfriend's child, was still in the car when he stopped at the Annandale home for seven hours and watched television.

Citing police and court documents obtained Tuesday, news outlets report the unidentified toddler suffered second-degree burns and had a body temperature of 107 degrees on April 20. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say 32-year-old Daiquan Fields, who previously had his driving privileges revoked, faces felony child neglect and involuntary manslaughter charges. CBS affiliate WUSA reports that the child's mother is Fields' girlfriend.

Prosecutors say Fields is a six time felon with a long rap sheet, including drugs and grand larceny that landed him behind bars for four years, reports WUSA. Fields was released from jail after a judge set bail at $50,000, the station reports. As a condition of release, he is ordered not to drive and submit to a drug test twice a week.

Shaun Barnett

Shaun Barnett 28, was arrested for the double murder of 31-year-old Raynell Kimbrough and Dawn Scott, 28, according to the station. The couple was found shot to death inside their home on April 4. Three children were reportedly home at the time of the shooting, including an infant in the bed with them. The children were all unharmed.

Barnett is believed to have been the person driving a gold or champagne-colored vehicle seen leaving the area following the murder, police said in a statement. Barnett was in jail on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest in the couple's deaths, reports WWL. He had originally been arrested for parole violations, according to officials.

Police got a warrant for the murders on Friday after evidence linked Barnett to the crime, according to the station.

Barnett will be booked on murder charges, as well as possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, according to Kenner police.

[h=1]Former federal jail guard who raped female inmate at Metropolitan Correctional center sentenced to seven years behind bars[/h]

Byron Smith/for New York Daily News [h=2]Former federal jail guard Rudell Mullings leaves court with his frail mother after being sentenced to seven years behind bars for raping a female inmate.[/h]
A 350-pound ex-federal jail guard who admitted Wednesday that he forcibly raped a female inmate at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan was sentenced to seven years behind bars.

Rudell Mullings, 54, withdrew his claim that he had consensual sexual intercourse with the victim to avoid a formal hearing in Brooklyn Federal Court, but the last-minute admission didn’t cut him any slack with the judge.

The unidentified victim, who is serving a 30-year sentence for a murder rap, was escorted by U.S. Marshals into the courtroom by U.S. Marshals, where she read a moving statement about the attack.

“I want to thank the court that I was believed despite my low status as an inmate,” she said. The woman said she was repeatedly molested as a child by a family member. “Now, to compound my childhood trauma, Mr. Mullings has created new challenges for me to confront,” she said. “I want Mr. Mullings to know that his actions have caused me tremendous grief, pain, and humiliation.”

“Even in my dreams, I am suffering flashbacks where I’m repeatedly raped,” she added.

Mullings resigned from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons after investigators confronted him with DNA evidence recovered from the victim's clothing.

The hulking guard attacked the woman in a corridor that he knew was not under video surveillance, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Hiral Mehta. He grabbed her around the waist, yanked down her sweatpants and panties, and raped her from behind. The woman said Mullings had been stalking her for some time and said he wanted to hook up with her on the outside someday. "He told me he would like to be the first to put his little penis in me," she said.

The sicko's lawyer, Damien Brown, argued for a term of six months in jail and six months of house arrest. But Judge Edward Korman said the sentencing guidelines did not reflect the seriousness of the crime and an upward departure was warranted. “It’s necessary to send a message to people in positions such as his that the conduct is unacceptable and deserves severe punishment,” Korman said.

Mullings, a Navy veteran who also operated a halfway house in Brooklyn for homeless veterans, was allowed to remain free so he could self-surrender next month.

[h=1]Trafficking charges filed after man agreed to pay Frisco woman $10,000 for girl’s virginity, police say[/h]
Cirino Santiago Delacruz and Adriana Aguilar face charges of trafficking and indecency with a child.

Two people face felony trafficking charges after negotiating a price of $10,000 in exchange for a girl’s virginity, Frisco police say. Frisco officers arrested Cirino Santiago Delacruz, 32, of Farmers Branch and Adriana Aguilar, 33, of Frisco late last week on suspicion of trafficking and indecency with a child sexual contact. Aguilar also faces a separate charge of promotion of prostitution of a person younger than 18.

Both remained in the Collin County Detention Center on Tuesday with immigration holds from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Delacruz’s attorney was not immediately available for comment. No attorney was listed for Aguilar.

The incident is believed to have happened in December. Police were notified April 23 after the girl told her parents, according to Frisco Police spokesman Benny Valdez. Valdez couldn’t give the girl’s age but said that Child Protective Services is now involved. Investigators are still trying to determine whether this is an isolated incident, Valdez said.

The girl was taken to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County for a forensic interview.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Aguilar and the girl knew each other. One day in December, Aguilar asked the girl to ride with her to Dallas to run an errand. They went to an apartment, where they met Delacruz. The girl told investigators she had seen him before at a restaurant but didn’t know him. Aguilar told the girl that Delacruz offered to pay $10,000 to have sex with her and take her virginity.

The girl said she was physically forced into a bedroom. Delacruz kissed her, put his hand up her shirt and felt her bare breast while she tried to get him off of her, according to the affidavit. When he tried to take off her pants, the girl said she fought him and was allowed to leave the bedroom. Aguilar became angry with the girl because she wouldn’t have sex with Delacruz, according to the affidavit. Aguilar told the girl not to tell anyone what happened. The girl told investigators she was fearful of both Aguilar and Delacruz.

Delacruz paid $100 for being able to touch the girl, according to the affidavit. Aguilar kept $50 for delivering the girl and offered the other half to the girl. The girl told investigators she didn’t want the money but eventually took it. According to the affidavit, Aguilar “knowingly caused the juvenile victim to engage in sexual contact by placing the victim in the situation to be touched.”

Aguilar, who was arrested Friday, told police that the girl had accepted Delacruz’s offer of money for sex, and that’s why she took the girl to the apartment. Aguilar told police she didn’t know what happened in the bedroom but that the girl came out quietly.

“Aguilar said the victim told her that she could not go through with having sex with Cirino and that she wanted to leave,” according to the affidavit. That’s when they left, Aguilar told police.

Sex Assault Charges Filed Against Minneapolis Man Accused of Beating Toddler

Sexual assault charges have been filed against a Minneapolis man accused of severely beating a 21-month-old girl.

ticortier-rahieem-collins.jpg

Twenty-one-year-old Ticortier Rahieem Collins was charged with first-degree assault back in January after the girl suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs and a lacerated spleen and kidney.

On Tuesday, an amended criminal complaint also charged him with first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The criminal complaint says Collins brought the girl to a hospital on Jan. 3 because she was wheezing and her lips were turning purple. Police say Collins initially told a social worker that the girl bumped heads with another child but later changed his story.

Doctors say the injuries weren’t consistent with a fall or common injury and that the injuries also included multiple pelvic fractures.

According to the amended criminal complaint, forensic testing showed that semen was found inside the victim’s diaper and on her clothes, and an analysis showed the semen matched Collins’ DNA.

[h=1]'I killed her, I killed her,' 13-year-old cried after stabbing another girl[/h]
A 13-year-old girl cried out, “I killed her, I killed her” after using a knife provided by her mother to fatally stab a girl just two years older during a fight on the South Side over the weekend, according to prosecutors and police.

The 13-year-old and her mother, Tamika Gayden, 35, were charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the Saturday night slaying of De'Kayla Dansberry, a popular track standout at Johnson College Prep.

The girl was charged Tuesday morning as a juvenile after one witness identified her in a video of the fight and another witness saw the girl wiping blood from the knife after the attack, according to Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Christine Hake. Prosecutors would not provide details on where the video was taken.

“The evidence is overwhelming,” Hake told Juvenile Court Judge Cynthia Ramirez, who ordered the girl held until a hearing June 7. Gayden was charged hours later with murder and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
