Pearls of wisdom from "the first"

Q: Why would you believe that the shooter was a victim in a school shooting?
A (The left): Because we want the news agencies to report that it is your fault no matter who the shooter is or why they did it.

She didn't say the shooter was "a victim."

2 things can be true: the shooter was a criminal, and the trans community in general CAN be under attack - and they clearly are, if you watch Carlson or Fox or listen to many conservatives today.

It's not even that nuanced. That's a very easy thing to grasp.

No she said the shooter's group should be protected from the victims. They are a special class of folks that are victimized by simply having a member of their group go nutjob and shoot up innocents at a Preschool through 5th grade school.

Now, you're just spinning.

The trans community IS under attack right now. Should no one mention that?

This is the equivalent of Trump's 'There were some good people there too'. It's just not okay. At this time, let's mourn the victims rather than make a point to ignore them in favor of a different class of folks. I know you want this story to go away because a member of one of your list of victim class folks went and shot some innocent children, but we should pay more attention to it.

This isn't walking and chewing gum, this is ignoring victims to place the shroud of "victim" on folks that were not present at the attack in any capacity other than perpetrator.

That is not equivalent AT ALL. There was only one shooter. The gathering that Trump was referring to was a group of people who were all on the same page.

If you look at the context of her remarks, she was talking about anti-LGBTQ bills that the GOP is pushing right now. It's the same sort of "guilt by association" thing we've seen throughout American history - like the proposed travel ban for ALL Muslims after 2 who were associated w/ that group committed an act of terror in San Bernadino, or as far back as the internment of the Japanese after Pearl Harbor.

It's wrong, and it's okay to call it out. As soon as something like this happens, people who had absolutely nothing to do with it are suddenly subject to more hate.

It is pretty much equivalent. Basically, imagine if Trump had said "our hearts and minds go out to the good people who were there (not the racists, but those good ones that were there), we stand with you"... Holy crap, not saying anything like that at all had y'all up in arms (and me shaking my head, there is no way that anybody with a brain suggested he say what he did).

This administration is participating in victim blaming today.

It's only equivalent if the trans community was part of her plot, or at the school w/ her & supporting her.

Otherwise, there is no equivalency.

We can do this all day. She's clearly talking about the backlash against the trans community (which is quite visible, especially on Fox and in DC), because of the actions of one criminal individual.
