Exactly. Not all evangelicals are that stuffy about things, but that church sure was. When we lived out in the boonies for 11 years, me and my late husband & kids, we often encountered that same attitude towards Catholics and mainstream Protestants. It's pretty ubiquitous among their ilk.

Tomorrow we'll be accused of hating Christians and Christianity because we pointed out that fundies don't like anyone other than other fundies. lol

There is no question that there is some anti-Catholic bias particularly in the Calvinist strain of Protestantism. But I do not think most evangelicals hate Catholics and I doubt anyone suggested that.

All faith traditions are just presenting a different face of God: Catholicism, Protestantism, Judaism, Islam, Eastern Orthodoxy - I would maintain Buddhism, Taoism, and indigenous native religions do as well.

Words are just words. It's what's with them or the reason behind the words that matter. I see nothing wrong with telling someone they are behaving like a jackass when it's true. Now saying something to devalue their humanity as RB did is such taboo. Also, words that were created in judgment to devalue humanity is another taboo. Stuff life the n-word or c-word.
