Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said she hopes the final reform package will include measures to encourage end-of-life counseling – despite the controversy such a proposal has caused in recent weeks.

“I am hoping at the end of the day it will be in the package,” Sebelius said on ABC’s This Week. She said end-of-life decisions were among the most important that a family needed to make.

A provision in the House bill would provide Medicare coverage for patients to discuss advance care directives with their doctors. Conservatives say that provision, taken in the context of a bill that aims to cut overall health care spending, could be misinterpreted.

Senate Finance Committee negotiators have said they will not include the end-of-life provision in their bill.

End of life planning is only commone sense.
A living will to make your wishes known, estate planning, etc.
It removes confusion, stress, fussing, etc from those left behind.

so we need the Federal Government dictating that to us? oh that's right, our masters in government thinks us citizens are all dummies..

How does making something available mean you're forced to take it?

This should be between the patient and their family or a representative for the patient, not the government. A copy should be given to the doctor and the hospital.

It is. Do you have any evidence that anyone disagrees with that fact?

Didn't think so.

If a person doesn't want a friggen living will, then they don't..we don't need some damn Federal Government agency telling us about it. damn commies

so we need the Federal Government dictating that to us? oh that's right, our masters in government thinks us citizens are all dummies..

You consistently mischaracterize this. Government isn't "dictating" anything to us.

It's like you have a crib sheet of buzzwords that conjure up socialism & tyranny.

Being told about something violates mememe!'s right to be ignorant?

so the ignorant should stay ignorant?

What about the abstinance only counseling for youths? Whay are outsiders getting involved there.

And why have strange people teaching your child to read!

The arrogance of our government!

You're assuming that somebody wanted to spawn children with mememe! or tutu?

Gee - it's terrible that people would be able to get this reimbursed. Communism!

it's in the bill, so what else would you call it..
I can run my own life, I don't need a Government Nanny or a Federal Government dictator..

Yeah - allowing Medicare to reimburse for it, to encourage it. Not DICTATING it.

You're too stupid to argue with.

"It's in the bill, so what else would you call it.."

Which bill is it in?

Care to post the language that says you'll be forced to accept counseling?

Didn't think so.
