They were responding politically. Trump is not judged by the right by his ethics and morals. He has none. Politics is the business of getting re-elected. They can't go against Trump and keep their seats. That is why Republicans like Lindsey reverse their positions when Trump does something disgusting or criminal.

Putting it simply, it is blatant GOP hypocrisy.

If they judged Trump using the same standards they use to judge Democrats, then Trump would never see the inside of the White House again.

I don't give a fuck about paying hush money.
In fact, smart voters don't vote for people.
Smart voters vote for policy positions, not people.
People who vote for personalities and perception of character are generally clueless about understanding the issues.

People with pristine character don't go into politics.
They support politicians but don't actually become them.
We have to have them, but it's essentially choosing our shaky character over theirs.
That's how the real world works.

Falsifying business records is the important felony here.
That's why Trump is a felon.
It may not be an offense punishable by prison,
but those trials are coming up.
