USA hits something in Syria

Our government will not tell is what they did in our name, but we have this:

The US did not confirm any casualties, but UK-based monitoring group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the US attack had killed at least 17 pro-Iranian fighters.

"The strikes destroyed three lorries carrying munitions," the observatory's Rami Abdul Rahman told AFP. "There were many casualties."

Kataib Hezbollah has denied any role in the recent rocket attacks, but US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters he was "confident in the target that we went after".

"We know what we hit," he said. "We're confident that that target was being used by the same Shia militants that conducted the strikes" on 15 February.

An unnamed US official told Reuters news agency that the attack was meant to send a signal that while the US wanted to punish the militias, it did not want it to escalate into a bigger conflict.

strike was observed throughout the area. The security website Aurora Intel said in a tweet: “Three explosions were reported in the vicinity of [Abu Kamal]. Reports suggest a convoy of vehicles passed through the crossing before the airstrike was conducted, possible weapons movement if confirmed.”

A pro-Shiite militia media outlet reported Thursday that the U.S. attacks targeted an empty structure, killing one person and lightly wounding others, according to SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist activity. Sabireen News reported that the groups targeted had used aerial surveillance and fled before the strikes, according to SITE.

"An empty building"....now that's more like it!

Here is the thing.....Israel does constant raids on Iranian forces in Syria....has for a long time.....has not made a lick of difference.

How is this different?

The IDF has launched hundreds of strikes in Syria since the start of the civil war in 2011 against moves by Iran to establish a permanent military presence in the country and efforts to transport advanced, game-changing weapons to terrorist groups in the region, principally Hezbollah.

Last month, massive Israeli airstrikes targeted a number of sites in Syria near the Iraq border, an area with a major Iranian military presence that is believed to be used by Tehran to move weapons throughout the region, Syrian media reported.

Unverified reports said 57 fighters were killed.

A senior US intelligence official with knowledge of the attack told the Associated Press at the time that the airstrikes were carried out with intelligence provided by the United States and targeted a series of warehouses in Syria that were being used as part of the pipeline to store and stage Iranian weapons.

that's a Shi'a report, but it also looks like this is a border crossing (?) with weapons movement (lorries on the move)

it's literally as small a target as possible

I have not made up my mind how I feel about taking out three trucks with munitions.

So the story is that these were American planes and not Israeli planes doing the usual raids is going to impress Iran?

This still looks like theater put on for the peasants.

indeed. Austin is calling it "proportional response" -it's laughable.
The Iran deal led us here though -no checks on Iranian proxies or Quds force, and no restriction of their ballistic missile testing.

Now Iran has turned off cameras for IAEA inspections as well -and Biden?? that idiot want to lock in this mess

Trump broke the deal. The Iranians should be praised for maintaining their own word for so long. They are more than entitled to do what they like with their own nuclear development- stupid though that is- while Biden continues with Trump's moronic sanctions and give his idiotic blanket support to the most dangerous nuclear-armed state on earth.

A lot of the people in this government are the same ones that spent four years trying to get chummy with Iran because they need to feed their Trump Hate.

And now Iran is supposed to be all impressed when they do one of the raids that Israel would normally do, and talk tough?

It has the feel of "Wait till your father gets home!" when everyone knows that dad wont do shit.

Kabuki Theater.
