Soviet conservatives...Stalinists, xenophobic fringe groups, like Pamyat, as well as large numbers of nationalists who yearned for the values of Old Russia and the Orthodox church.

They viewed Gorbachev policies as as a conspiracy by Jews, Masons and Westernizers.
