We need a middle class tax cut and to spread the wealth around?? why, well you can bet middle classers bonuses this year are going to suck, while the rich CEO's get a huge bonus.

is that fair? don't think so....

I don't care about spreading the wealth around, so long as it's getting spread to me. Fuck tax cuts for the rich, I need that middle class tax break.

Well if you vote for McCain/Dixie they've stated they want to raise taxes on the bottom 50% because it's not fair to the rich that they pay more. The only fair tax would be for everyone to pay the same amount, say 100k a year, so that the rich don't feel so oppressed.

I can't agree with taking money from those who earned it and giving it to those who didn't earn it.

You're right. The rich are the most oppressed group in history.

Why must we punish those who earn the most in our society, such as Paris Hilton? It's insane to tax based on ability to pay.

You are taking what I said and running way out there with it, aren't you WM?

This idea that there is some rich group out there hording money while the rest of us starve is simply bullshit.

Yeah, Sol, you will starve once your flat tax is passed, and it's a good thing I'm here to keep you from committing suicide.

Yeah, I am sure I would be suicidal after the Fair Tax Act was passed. Having more money in my pocket, dismantling a punative tax system, and taking away the politician's ability to selectively tax whomever and whatever they paint as evil would probably send me to my gun safe to put a bullet in my brain.

Thanks for saving me, WM.

HaHa, here's a joke I saw the other day reminded me of your comment.

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on an "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn, even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Such basic common sense. :clink: It's the reason that socialism has always failed when tried; the grander the scale, the grander the failure. Today's argument is that it's "not socialism", but fairness or more honestly called, "incremental socialism". Any way you slice it, there are built-in disincentives regarding work or building wealth. Amazing that so many 'brilliant progressives' fail to recognize such.

Man, you guys would call Obama a socialist if he tried to institute a public library system (if it didn't already exist). Free books for anyone? Socialist!

Get a dictionary and stop being dishonest.

Rhetoric such as "spreading the wealth around" and responses such as "fairness" when asked why he wants to raise captial gains taxes even though its shown to bring in less revnue makes people question his economic policies.

We are a socialist state, thanks to a progressive tax system and a gluttony of entitlement programs.

Anyone who doesn't run on a platform of abolishing these institutions is technically a "socialist". The only real difference between John McCain and Obama's socialist philosophies is how extreme they are.

:clink: What I was referring to by 'grander'.

Technically? I would have thought someone would TECHNICALLY be a socialist when they met the TECHNICAL dictionary definition, not the commonly misconstrued definition.

Solitary, your taxes would probably double and the riches would be next to nothing.

Such basic common sense.

Common sense tells many people the world is flat. It should not be used to judge anything, especially a tax system.

Cawacko's idiotic strawman is not only idiotic, it's just completely and totally innacurate. This is the reason neo-liberal laissez-faire has always failed. It just recreates feudalism.
