The shooter is a Tea Party member in Colorado...

They were banned until 2004 when Bush chose to let the legislation lapse, remind me how many guns in the 18th century were capable of firing at 60 rounds per minute?

The 18th century is not the weapons tech standard today in the 21st century now is it? See what you and other 'nose in the air' libs fail to read in the 2nd amendment that is genius of the founders, who btw were breaking from the oppression of your side of the pond, is the phrase at the end which states: "The right of the people, shall not be infringed"...

So regardless of what you think I should own here in a different country than you even live in, the gall of that thinking, I really don't care. You can't do a damned thing about it.

Just a slight correction before you get blasted for it .. not "abridged" but "infringed." You know how some will try to get you on a technicality when a good argument can't be made. ;)

Thank you...I changed it...But I know what you mean...Even though the meat of the phrase I bolded was "The right of the people, shall not...."

owning and driving a car is a privilege extended to you by the state. Owning a firearm is a right you possess and protected by the Constitution.
disagree wholeheartedly. You have a right to acquire property and autos are property. You also have a right to travel freely using common methods of the times. I.e. you have a right to drive.

You can say what ever you wish, that is your opinion. However, the founders of this country, along with our Supreme court disagrees with you. So, your opinion means about as much as a bucket of warm spit.

The guns owned by the ctizens in the 18th century were the same ones used by the US military at the time. They were state of the art. Whether they fire 60 rounds per minute or not, they were no less than what the best armed military infantryman carried.
