more ignorance of the law as an excuse

Le'ts be clear.

If he cared one whit for the feelings of someone other than himself, he would have gone CONCEALED carry that night...but noooooo...he just had to show how big a man he was by pretending he's in the Old West.

No, let's be REAL clear. How someone else FEELS about a grown individual exercising a right like any other human being can and should have, is irrelevant. And again, if it were literally any other right, you would be on that guys side.

You will always have some excuse for the cowardly to play dress up.

RIGHT there Zap. Exercising your rights, and wanting to do so in peace, is cowardly and playing dress up. It's not someone making an adult and personal decision and doing so in a calm and perfectly reasonable manner. I guess everyone who protests is a big Paul Revere wannabe because they exercise their freedom of speech. I guess anyone who hands out religious materials on the sidewalks is a Martin Luther wannabe. Anyone who pleads the 5th or asks a cop for a warrant is a Matlock wannabe. Not people who feel it is well within their RIGHTS to do such things. They're all just cowardly wannabes.

you have proof it was otherwise?

when seconds count, the cops are minutes away. and there was no extra security at the theater.

prove it. by something other than your fear of weapons that causes you to feel less than a man.

There keeps being a reference to a "hog leg" and I have yet to see any evidence that he was carrying a revolver.

The largest problem though, is that people see an average exercise of rights as some sort of threat. They've been conditioned to do so. The only way to combat said ignorance and fear is, in my opinion, cultural saturation. The more you see people carrying guns doing every day things, not harming or threatening anyone, the more likely you are to ignore it. That's the goal. To be able to carry wherever I go in peace.

Isn't it ironic that many towns in the 'Wild West' had a no gun policy, so when people say are you trying to go back to the those times it would actually be an improvement!!

In spite of these specific incidents of violence, the lawlessness of the Wild West has been blown out of proportion. Ironically, the myth of the lawless West began before the period was over. Dime novels written in the East in the latter part of the 19th century exaggerated, or simply made up, stories about the crimes and criminals of the West. Hollywood later perpetuated the myth, feeding the public's desire for excitement and adventure with stories of gunfights in the street and stagecoach robberies. The true story of the Old West is boring by comparison. Because of the need to hunt for food or protect themselves from wild animals, many people did have guns. However, fans of Hollywood westerns may be surprised to learn that many western towns had strict gun ordinances, making it illegal to carry guns in town. People entering the town were required to surrender their firearms to the sheriff. In fact, a story that has come to epitomize the violence of the Wild West involved a conflict over such a law. When Virgil Earp, along with his brothers Morgan and Wyatt and their friend Doc Holliday, confronted five cowboys in the city of Tombstone over carrying firearms in town, violence erupted. This incident became known as the gunfight at the OK corral. Yet it's interesting to note that even in this most famous gunfight of the violent West, only three people were killed. In any modern city today, such a minor incident would probably not even be front page news.

Here we see the angry gun nut just plain ignoring the comments from the other poster because he can't or won't admit that the other poster was right about what a selfiish prick the guy carrying the gun really was.

how selfish is it to demand that others refrain from exercising their rights so they can 'feel' better? pretty fucking selfish.

How selfish is a cowardly pussy exercising his rights to carry a gun everywhere he goes to control his panty-wetting fear? Pretty fucking selfish.

Zap, if he was trying to exercise ANY other natural right you'd have a different tone. If he wanted to organize a protest, or bring his lawyer with him everywhere, or pass out copies of the Koran at Time Square, you'd be 100% supportive of him.

Do these rights have the potential to kill anyone?
