more ignorance of the law as an excuse

i disagree. the exercise of a right doesn't equal to a crime and common sense is a subjective term.

i didn't say it was a crime.

consider this:

someone shoots a family during a home invasion, four people die. does it make common sense to show up to the funeral with an open carry gun in order to exercise your second amendment rights?

People should have the right to throw people carrying guns out in the open out of their establishment. It's like walking around naked - Jesus Christ, just don't do it.

Business owners do. But he wasn't asked to leave, chose not to, and then arrested. He was arrested without any prior attempt to ask him to leave.

You fucking tickle me with your ignorance:

1. Concealed Weapons Ordinances

A. Concealed Carry Bans

Aurora, Boulder, Broomfield, Colorado Springs, Denver, Englewood,

Lakewood, Littleton, Longmont, Northglenn, Pueblo, Thornton, Westminster,

Wheat Ridge

besides ceasefire being a very bad site for gun law info, the entire state of colorado, except denver, is pre-empted for open carry. The only gun laws that localities may make are to prohibit open carry in buildings OR specific areas in their locality, which MUST be clearly defined by signage. The ONLY reason denver is not included in the pre-emption is because ONE of the state supreme court judges had to recuse herself from the case, having heard it before in a lower court, thus leaving a 4-4 decision that didn't change anything in the end of it all.

unless the funeral home was prohibited, there would be no law against it, thus common sense really has no place in it at all. again, if an occupy wall street protest resulted in a riot that got some people killed, including a police officer, should we then use 'common sense' and stop all protests for awhile for fear of scaring people or the police?

STY....why should common sense not be apart of it? if you want to get your point across in a town hall meeting or whatnot...you are free to say- FUCK SHIT BITCH DUMBASS - do you really think using those words, which you are entitled to use...will help your cause?

that would imply that open carrying a holstered handgun, something every police officer on duty does, is unprofessional. it is not, therefore it's just exercising a right, not against common sense.

yep, sorry my friend.

don't be sorry....lawyers get things wrong all the time.

without getting into personal stuff......my meter maid position put me in opposition to this nasty lawyer. he didn't want to play by the rules of decorum, so i brought his actions up to the judge during my meter maid hearing and the judge gave him a mouthful.

i know we disagree, but my point is common sense. people would not freak out if a police officer walked in with full uniform. very different with a non officer walking in with a gun. you can argue rights all day long, the fact remains....that was not tactful, nor did it serve any purpose.

like i said above...i can exercise any right i want, doesn't mean i have to exercise it at every opportunity.

i understand. I just don't agree that I have to curb my rights to not offend other peoples sensitivities. just not my style, especially when I don't let my sensitivities get in the way of others and their rights.

Read down, dumbfuck jones:

sheesh..I made it bigger for ya....can't y'all get anything right????
and I told YOU, the only one it applies to is Denver due to the lawsuit. all the others are pre-empted by state law with the exception of clearly posted buildings and areas.

i don't see it as curbing your rights. i see it as respecting others.

Yet what I quoted categorically states Thornton municipal law says it's illegal. From what I've been reading his CCW was issued outside Thornton and wasn't recognized plus he brought the gun into an establishment serving alcohol, which is also illegal. And...he had a CCW permit, not open carry.

Without actually seeing the municipal ordinance, I'm not wasting the time on this.

Aside from the fact that this guy's an asshole who tried to make a statement (lol...he wore a t-shirt with the words "liberal" on it to the theatre) and got caught. Most likely the police will drop the charges rather than deal with the asshole.

The largest problem though, is that people see an average exercise of rights as some sort of threat. They've been conditioned to do so. The only way to combat said ignorance and fear is, in my opinion, cultural saturation. The more you see people carrying guns doing every day things, not harming or threatening anyone, the more likely you are to ignore it. That's the goal. To be able to carry wherever I go in peace.
