the black community is not homogeneous, however, large portions may agree on some things

not being black, i would not know

i heard some weird things from some of my son's black friends when they would come over to visit

he had both black and latino friends and they would come over sometimes

they did not seem to care that i was there or not...at least in modifying the way they talked to each other...it was rather startling

Wow, I thought everybody had heard that term by now. It's not exactly something new, DQ. If you are Native American, they'd say "Apple"... (red on the outside, white on the inside). Or Golden (sometimes White) Apple (you look, can pass, and act white but are of NA descent). Just so you'll know before you hear it.

You help the poor and needy by giving them opportunity and enabling the means for them to prosper. It is not helping anyone to keep them shackled to dependency. All that does is enables them to remain dependent and poor. You don't really care about helping the needy, not in any real way, because if you actually helped the needy, they wouldn't need you anymore, and you need for them to be dependent on you so they can keep you empowered politically. Giving them opportunity, and enabling a system where they can engage in capitalism and free markets to achieve success and prosperity, is absolutely out of the question when you need to keep them shackled and on the plantation, voting your political party back into power again and again.

Most everyone on the right has said (repeatedly) that they don't have a problem with cutting military funding. Paul Ryan's budget proposed over $400 billion in cuts over 10 years, but your party somehow spins that into a "massive increase" in military spending. What are reasonable people supposed to do here, if you won't even be honest about this? Do you want to completely disband our military? Great, that gets you just about enough to balance Obama's checkbook for a single fiscal quarter. You still have 3/4 of the year worth of Obama debt to pay, and no military, what do you want to completely eliminate next? The FDA? Come on, it's going to take more than the $700 billion defense budget to offset $1.6 trillion in overspending... you want to tax "rich people" more? Okay, let's tax them at 100%... that gives us enough to cover about a year of Obama's overspending... what about the other three? You've now paid for ONE YEAR of Obama, by completely eliminating all our military and taxing the "rich" at 100% rate... You now have no defense, and no capitalism generating wealth for anyone. This means you now have no tax base to speak of... so what gets cut next?

i want the biggest bang for my extorted tax dollars

i think that a social safety net is necessary for any civilized society

i spent over 25 years as an aerospace engineer and as such i have a good idea about fraud and waste in the military budget, just as there is fraud and waste in social programs

having said that, we will have social parasites always, but there should be sufficient looseness in social programs such that people in need do not get shut out or experience delays in receiving aid

i think that a card with a magnetic strip (like a debit card) should be available to any citizen that wants one that will permit them to purchase certain basic food stuffs at any market up to a certain limit

that classes in the handling and preparation of food available via the aforementioned card be available to all that want to attend them and at the conclusion of such classes that cookware be provided to the students should they want it

subsidized and low cost housing should be available to the indigent and working poor

i think that single payer health care should be available to all citizens at a price based on their income or at no cost

i think that we should have a military sufficient to respond to any viable threat to our nation

i think that we need an intelligence network sufficient to prevent a surprise attack on our nation whether by another nation or a terrorist or terrorist group

however, having said that, i think that we should do away with the usa patriot act

i think that we should scrap our current tax code and start over with a tax code that the average citizen can understand

i support welfare to work for the able bodied with free child care or child care on a graduated scale depending on income

i think that schools should be open from 6 am to 7 pm with tutoring and/or before and after school activities, that they convert to the quarter system with students attending all 4 quarters a year, that class times be lengthened to 90 minutes with a 10 minute break in the middle, that akido and swimming be taught instead of the usual physical education and with at least one non-contact team sport, that education be emphasized as the path to better jobs (better than dealing drugs and less hazardous), that teachers be required to have a masters degree in education or one subject that will be taught, that principals have a doctorate degree in education and administration

that schools be well maintained with airconditioning and sound proofing, with adequate security and no off campus lunch (school lunches must be balanced and nutritious) or any other activity without a signed authorization or in case of emergency, that a school nurse be on every campus

that parents be held accountable for their children and be notified if their is absent or misbehaves

we need to support two year or community colleges such that they can teach skills necessary for jobs or transfer to a 4 year year institution

we need to repair, maintain and build modern infrastructure so that goods and workers can travel to where they are needed in a reasonable time

we need to educate our people regarding mental health so it is treated as a medical condition like a broken leg or other physical problem

While we are fantasizing... I like MY idea better than yours! I propose we do the same thing with the banks as we are doing with health care! Let's just open all the banks up and let people go get the money they need for whatever! Banks have plenty of money, and would LOVE all the business! Think of all the people who are struggling out there, who this could really make a difference for?

I agree with you on most of that,maby a cupple insignifigant tweaks,but in all a good philosophy. thing with welfare fraud is that all their getting with that is maby $8000.00 a year while well when the millitary misspends peoples taxes it takes 800 billion a year.
