Even though you are trying to make a point you are not far from the truth. A conservative 'conserves' the status quo. They do not lend themselves easily to progress. In your country to conserve indicates a desire to keep things as they are, that is with racism rife, corrupt banking, lying politicians, etc etc.

So yes. Racist could well be a 'code' word for conservative.

actually some welfare fraudsters are rather creative and claim several children (not their own of course), however, you are correct. military misspending, fraud and pork projects cost billions

My point is not that they exist, but that they are often/usually/always essential and manufactured by the relevant authority.
You have them in spades from Cuba to N. Korea, from Mexican illegals to 'parasite blacks/whites/browns/whatever'.
Having such manufactured fear saves money too. Only one hymn sheet!

still i think that the libertarian stance (or for most that call themselves libertarians) precludes being a social progressive

what did you think of my extensive rant?

the things that i espoused would be expensive in the short run but are necessary for our nation to regain its leadership in the world community and generally improve life for our citizens and businesses

not to mention infuse our scientific community with fresh well educated people

we need creative people period, especially in the research and business communities

Kids in London speak 'black', it's called 'Shamaican'. No one, apart from English teachers really cares. In Hong Kong we have many Chinese who have been born, brought up and/or schooled in England. They are called 'bananas'. The Chinese call them bananas, the Brits call them bananas and they call themselves bananas. It is shorthand to say, 'I am Chinese, I share your culture, but I have had the advantage of going to an English school.' As an employment prospect they are quite sought after, as prospective spouses they are valued more highly.

i spent over 25 years as an aerospace engineer and as such i have a good idea about fraud and waste in the military budget, just as there is fraud and waste in social programsso true, as is my experience as a marine. the waste is tremendous

having said that, we will have social parasites always, but there should be sufficient looseness in social programs such that people in need do not get shut out or experience delays in receiving aid

i think that single payer health care should be available to all citizens at a price based on their income or at no cost

i think that we should have a military sufficient to respond to any viable threat to our nation
alot of people think that we don't have enough military or spending on it.

i think that we need an intelligence network sufficient to prevent a surprise attack on our nation whether by another nation or a terrorist or terrorist group
we have that now. the downside to that is that it has become so extensive and pervasive that they now consider american citizens as one of it's greatest enemies.

however, having said that, i think that we should do away with the usa patriot act

i think that we should scrap our current tax code and start over with a tax code that the average citizen can understand

i support welfare to work for the able bodied with free child care or child care on a graduated scale depending on income

i think that schools should be open from 6 am to 7 pm with tutoring and/or before and after school activities, that they convert to the quarter system with students attending all 4 quarters a year, that class times be lengthened to 90 minutes with a 10 minute break in the middle, that akido and swimming be taught instead of the usual physical education and with at least one non-contact team sport, that education be emphasized as the path to better jobs (better than dealing drugs and less hazardous), that teachers be required to have a masters degree in education or one subject that will be taught, that principals have a doctorate degree in education and administration


that schools be well maintained with airconditioning and sound proofing, with adequate security and no off campus lunch (school lunches must be balanced and nutritious) or any other activity without a signed authorization or in case of emergency, that a school nurse be on every campus
schools are governed by a locally elected board and it's curriculum should be determined by that community

we need to educate our people regarding mental health so it is treated as a medical condition like a broken leg or other physical problem
I don't think this kind of education should be mandatory, but it should be encouraged. the reason (my opinion of it anyway) that people are ignorant of things like first aid and such is that they've been accustomed to having government services provide these things. they seem to think that either they aren't responsible for it or are not capable of it.
