i have heard that some blacks call other blacks that think like white folk...

:0)

Am I obligated to talk to you about slavery? If not, why do you continue to post to me about it when I've already stated real clearly that I find your perspective creepy and disgusting.

I'm not the least bit interested in what you think of my perspectives on the subject and I don't require your validation.

Please take your fairy-tale somewhere else.

When are you and your ilk going to stop whining about slavery? Thank God every race and nationality isn't as whiney about their enslavement.

Did you learn about how the Italians and Irish were treated when they came here? Stop with the self pity. We get it. You are black. You aren't successful and it is everyon elses fault

No, you're not obligated to do anything, BAC. I thought we were engaged in conversation, next thing I know, you are claiming I am "being creepy and disgusting." I don't see anything disgusting or creepy about telling the truth and being honest. It's almost like, you couldn't succeed at stuffing a bunch of racist thoughts and words in my mouth, so now you're going to stomp away in a huff!

There is no 'fairy-tale' when it comes to documented historical facts... the only thing that comes close to a 'fairy-tale' is the narrative that the South was responsible for slavery and racism, and the cause of all the problems between black people and white people... or that the Civil War was about equality for blacks. If you want to continue to prop up myths put forth by bigots who couldn't admit their own culpability, be my guest. You didn't learn this from Dr. King.

Slavery was a terrible, awful and inexcusable thing... but it happened! It was legal! Slaves were considered property! The court and the nation upheld the institution for nearly a century before the CW, and continued to discriminate against blacks for a century after. What is "disgusting and creepy" about this to you? Yes, it's disgusting it happened, it's deplorable that men considered slaves property, it's even more sickening that black people were lynched and beaten to death for 100 years after the CW... but it's not disgusting for someone to stand up and talk about it or admit that it happened, is it???

Are you of the opinion that I have to talk to you about slavery.

It's a very simple question.

When is your punk bitchly ass going to recognize that I think you're dog shit?

I don't even read your bullshit. I just see that's it's you and immediately start pissing on your stank head.

Should I be more clear?

No, and I have already told you that. Why are you just going to ignore what I have to say? Are you sticking your fingers in your ears? Is what I am saying not 'racist' enough for you? Can you not twist my words into some bigoted wrongheaded viewpoint to disagree with? What exactly is the reason you refuse to discuss the subject now?

Then if you believe that .. why do you keep posting to me about your fairy-tale?

I'm not slightly interested in that bullshit. I told you that many posts ago .. and still you post that crap to me.

What the hell is wrong with you?

Nope. I do actually have an old confederate flag from the Civil War though. Along with several other artifacts. But you see, I don't view Civil War history the same as you. To me, it isn't about "racism" at all, it never was.

And there it is.

And there it is.

And there is WHAT, asswipe? THE TRUTH? Because that's what I stated. The CW had nothing to do with RACISM! By today's standards and today's current understanding of "racism," even the most ardent supporters of abolition in 1860, were racists in their views. People who opposed the institution of slavery were not opposed because they felt black people should be treated equally to white people, they were opposed to the inhumanity and cruelty. Just as PETA members aren't advocating that animals have the same constitutional rights as citizens, they are advocating for ethical treatment of animals. To conflate the two arguments is IGNORANCE.

Abraham Lincoln himself, had spent almost a decade trying to implement a plan to ship slaves off to some god-forsaken place, out of our hair. He made numerous public statements during his campaign, that he did not view the "negro" to be equal to whites. Some of his dialogue might well be mistaken for that of David Dukes, if you did not know what you were reading, it's that bad. But today, our schools hold Lincoln up as a hero, a man who saw the injustice of slavery and acted! Well, he may have seen the injustices of slavery, but he certainly didn't see the injustices of racial prejudice. It took 100 more years for white America to see that.

And there is WHAT, asswipe? THE TRUTH?

Yes, the truth, rube. You 'see the Civil War differently', and it 'isn't about "racism" and it never was'.

Speaks volumes about you.

You're not a racist. Oh, and you love women. :rofl2:

Go ahead and tell us how you're not a racist again. I need a good laugh. :D

There is no fairy-tale. You can keep saying it, but you've not pointed out anything that I have said that is factually incorrect. I keep posting because I am puzzled. I can't understand what happened here, we were having an interesting conversation, but when I didn't allow you to "as if" things into my mind and articulate them for me, you decided to pick up your marbles and go home, calling me "creepy and disgusting" in the process. I am trying to figure out what exactly I said, that made you feel that way? But you've clammed up, and have resorted to saying that I am posting a fairy-tale, and these are my 'perceptions' and not facts of historic record.

I challenge any of you to show me where I have posted something that is incorrect, regarding the record and historic details. If we aren't going to honestly accept the facts and the history as it was, we can't have an honest dialogue on the issues, or an objective analysis of the events. It's not possible if you are not willing to accept history as it happened. If you want to continue on through life believing something that isn't true, then you have the right to remain ignorant of the truth, and I can't help you.

When is your punk bitchly ass going to recognize that I think you're dog shit?

I don't even read your bullshit. I just see that's it's you and immediately start pissing on your stank head.

More homoerotic fantasies?

You read every word and you know it. Stop lying.

You 'see the Civil War differently', and it 'isn't about "racism" and it never was'.

Speaks volumes about you.

Speaks volumes about how I am honest about the truth?

Do you honestly believe the Civil War was about people who were racist versus people who weren't?

You do more to prove my point regarding the period between the CW and Civil Rights, than anything I could possibly post. It is precisely because we allowed (mostly white) society to adopt this fucked up thinking, that the CW resolved the "racism" issue, that we have another 100 years of injustices toward blacks. The "racist" people had been defeated in the CW, therefore it was "okay" for us to segregate! Hell, some people even used this hubris to argue it was actually CONSIDERATE of us to segregate!

Get this through your ignorant head... The United States was founded by people who did not believe blacks were equal to whites. "The Union" did not recognize slaves as anything more than "property" by definition of their own court and their own laws. The South was part of the Union, they were complicit as well, but your ignorance is the belief that they were the sole proprietors of racism, and that is just not true. Very few people in 1860, believed that black slaves were equal to white people, and some didn't even recognize them as people at all. That was a harsh cold fact of life, and denying this is IGNORANCE.

Dixie, answer one question for me please.
You are American, right? And your nation has a flag, you call it the Stars and Stripes. Now you say you have a confederacy flag as well. Now there can be nothing wrong with that as far as I can see. Until, that is, you actually hoist it up a flagpole so the public can see it.
It does not represent your country and it might offend. So why do it?

The answer is clear. You fly the flag because you wish to make a statement. It is clearly the expression of a minority view otherwise you wouldn't go to the trouble. So why do it, I really do not understand?

I have a school atlas dating from 1914 which shows most of the world in red. I keep it because it is interesting, I do not carry it with me bemoaning the transition from a red to multicoloured world.
If you kept your flag in a draw you could still show it to friends and the like minded without even the possibility of causing offence.

However, having known you here for a couple of years, it seems to me that you get some sort of turn on (sexual?) by being as offensive as you know how to be. Perhaps it is your germanic past or perhaps you are just a crotchety old man.

How cute. I would say that putting an OWEdummyfucker bumper sticker on your car shows you need psychiatric help.

If I knew what the hell you were talking about I might be able to respond. However I do not own a car - therefore no bumper - and in the many decades I spent driving I never once had a bumper sticker or any other kind of childish stick on statement.
So, wanna try again, arsehole?

Here's the thing, We The People have FREEDOM OF SPEECH here, we can express our speech by displaying any kind of flag we so desire on private property. Our reasons do not have to conform to your rationale, which might be based on absolute stereotypes and bigoted perceptions of the truth. If a German man wants to plant an Nazi flag in his front yard, it's not any of my business to tell him he can't. I don't have the right to not be offended.

I do not fly a confederate flag at my home, because there is no reason for me to. I am not in need of making a statement or supporting a cause. I do own a confederate flag, an actual battleground artifact. It is behind glass in my study, it hasn't been exposed to the elements in probably 100 years or so. It has a history behind it, and I have that. From my perspective, it is a historic artifact and nothing more. But if I want to fly a Confederate flag at my home, I have every right to do so, I don't need to justify it to you or explain why, it's my right to do this under the Constitution.

I have never objected to people wanting the symbol removed from state flags, because I can see their point, and understand that it's offensive. Primarily because of how it got there, which had nothing to do with the Civil War, and everything to do with defiant segregationists. I also don't condone using the Confederate flag as a symbol of racial supremacy. And because of that deplorable element who has hijacked the honorable flag, I can understand the sentiment behind not wanting it to adorn the state flag. I have no problem with that viewpoint, the only place I feel it appropriate to publicly display the flag, is at Confederate cemeteries and historic reenactments. You don't have to agree with me on that, but even in Japan, we allow the people to have museums and monuments to their fallen WWII soldiers.

Your gas about Civil War won't get any further response.

What fucking GAS are you referring to, clown?

That slavery was legal and upheld by the Supreme Court?

That our Founding Fathers accepted slavery?

That slaves were determined to be property by SCOTUS ruling?

That our Congress understood slaves to be private property, owned by the people who purchased them?

That most of society at the time thought of a slave as 'livestock' and not equal citizens?

None of this is GAS... it's ALL a matter of public record. If you want to believe something else, you can.
