Should Illegals be Allowed to Receive Drivers Licenses?

My brother-in-law follows u.s. politics pretty closely yet is a Canadian citizen and has no real desire to become a U.S. citizen to vote here. Always surprised by that.

Yeah, that strikes me as a bit much. I mean, take a person who is brought here from Mexico at 2 and grows up in Peoria, Illinois for 15 years goes to school and all that. You want to just ship him back to Mexico?
what part of make them leave the country don't you understand?

we need to remove that incentive for parents to bring their criminal children here.

tough shit. they can fuck off.

their concerns are irrelevant to me, they may as well be invisible.

This.

It's very similar to people excusing theft by saying they couldn't afford it, or possession of heroine with "I'm addicted to it." They broke the law. Punishment may not be in order, but rectifying the situation is. They're not here legally, so remove them. When a person steals goods they aren't allowed to just keep them.

This is some of what the problem is with America these days, people think that if they don't like a law they don't have to obey it. You see it in marijauna, illegal immigration and most of the traffic laws. Interesting fact, laws are made up of the breakable and unbreakable, you're actually supposed to obey all of them. Don't like a law? Change it, don't ignore it.

You really are a fucking troll, aren't you?

Who is an International Driver's License for? NON-CITIZENS?

Take your semantics and shove it up your pruney ass.

Actually, I am a citizen and have one of those. It allowed me to rent cars where I otherwise would not have been able to rent a car...

I can't believe this country has gotten to the place of stupidity where we are actually having this discussion! Should someone 16 be allowed to by booze if they lie and say they're 21? It's about the same premise! People here illegally, should be allowed to obtain ID which makes them appear to be legal!

This is only a problem for stupid rubes.

An international driver license doesn't make someone 'appear to be legal'; it permits them to drive in countries other than their own.

to get an IDL...you have to be legal, just like a regular driver's license. :pke:

Right. That's what Dixie expressed, because he's a dumbass rube, and you agree with him. Which makes you one as well.

but you claimed you were now talking about legal people....LOL....nice dishonest goal post shift liar. what is dumb about i said? explain. i doubt you can, but give it your best shot.

bijou lies again

They are trying to here in California and I'm curious if this issue in terms of (non) support falls along traditional partisan lines?

Question? Do they drive cars?

The obvious answer is yes.

Then considering the need to protect drivers, how could the answer to your question be anything other than yes, illegals should receive drivers licenses .. and more importantly, drivers training?

why isn't driving considered a right? if it's a right, then they should be able to drive. If driving is a privilege, then the only thing people should be bitching about is the said requirements that each state gets to impose upon the public asking for permission to travel by a certain means.

What a wonderful, heart-warming display of simple human kindness!

Your concern for your fellow human gives me hope for the future!

oh the two faced irony....here is zappa practicing what he preaches:

And all it took was you not being the same old dried up cunt for a change...

and notice zappa is once again not even talking about the thread, rather just attacking people. i bet he hasn't made a single post on topic yet today.

I'd support it if the license was clearly marked "non-citizen". It wouldn't even have to say "illegal", it just should be clear that they are not a citizen.

Good point.

One thing that doesn't seem to be getting much press, is that Obama allowing a specific age group to stay is causing some concerns within the Hispanic population.
Some of them seem to be upset; because they've complied with all the requirements to try and get legal status, which means jumping through a lot of hoops, and now they feel that they were just wasting their time.
By the way, these are also some of those that were brought here illegally; but made the choice to do what was right and apply for citizenship.
