The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits slid last week to the lowest level in more than four and a half years...
Even better, California simply didn't report all of their numbers. The report is yet again invaluable in only the fact that we can't use it to find out the actual numbers...

Occasionally they get the story right.
Then they delete it off their website.
But when it showed higher rates the data was unquestionable?
Not particularly, it is why we draw attention to the U-6 numbers. The idea that we should stop counting people that give up on looking is silly. Both sides do it, but it isn't even close to accurate. They do adjust for seasonal averages, this is a decent thing. However, when all the sudden "mistakes" come just before an election it makes people distrust it more.

In what time frame? During Bush's terms I was almost always on about the fact that the jobs that were created during his tenure sucked, while I did say it was "full employment"... But then I disliked Bush very much. He did not, however, seem to have the BLS on his side just as elections were coming up, it wasn't nearly the issue it seems to have become at this time (or should I say "just in time".)
