I have never denied that there are racists. I even agree that a chunk of those who voted for someone other than Obama did so because of his race.
But the idea that every vote cast for anyone but Obama is a clear sign of racism is absolute nonsense. And the idea that exit polls give any sort of scientific evidence of anything is equally insane. With the crowds at the polls, the pollster could not possibly have gotten even a significant portion of the voters as they left. They would have had to pick who they asked.
It also ignores any social pressure on the voters. You let a small town guy vote for Obama and some pollster catches him outside the polls and in front of his redneck friends, what do you suppose his answer will be?
The polls also ignore every vote cast by mail or any early voting by any method.
And I still come back to the idea that Desh, in her rabid need to sling mud in every direction, felt completely comfortable calling me a racist, shows that she doesn't need any evidence. All it takes is that the person be white (and if they are from the south it is even easier). Having had a long family history of fighting racism, I find that offensive. But while Desh seems VERY concerned about what offends some people, she didn't seem worried at all about whether I actually am a racist or not. Throw WB in the mix too, why not?
