one should think that it's pretty horrific to have 'due process of law' redefined as 'reasonable beliefs of the president'.....how is that due process of law????????

I am in tune with BAC's purported principles. He is about as principled as any rightwing extremist that I ever met and just as dangerous to the Progressive Liberal Democratic Movement as them as well. BAC is a fraud, pure and simple and right now he is nothing more than a wild eyed wide open nostril motherfucker blowing snot and crying like a child about things he doesn't know a damned thing about, as is usual with him.

Having been shot at and missed and shot at and hit I suppose I look at things a little differently than those that have only their inexperienced opinions to blather about.

I fail to see what being shot has to do with the issue, but whatever.

Having been shot while in the service of this great country I don't expect many to understand. Even the Veterans Administration has trouble doing that sometimes.

Look, I'm not denigrating your service. Thank you. I appreciate it. I just don't see what it has to do with the legality of executive branch assassination of US citizens abroad.

Whether it is abroad or right here in the homeland if I think an American citizen is putting me or any American troop or really any other citizen at all in the deep shits I'll do my part to take his ass out by whatever method I find available to me at the time. Otherwise, I'm just not into Americans killing Americans. I realize that might be too deep a subject for such a shallow well. I've held these beliefs and considerations for decades, my friend, and no one has ever shown me any reason to consider my thoughts in error.

are you purposefully ignoring the 'due process' part of the argument?

Not just "abroad" man... That's part of what is so tragic here.

There are and have been many decisions wherein I have disagreed with the CIC in executive orders, legalities or whatever. And I am quite vocal about them. In this case I agree that these dangerous people must be taken out whether they are citizens or not. In war and on the job MY safety, security and well-being are priorities number ONE.

That is a million miles away from killing American citizens in a foreign country positively associated with known terrorists and absolutely planning to kill American troops and destroy American assets. I normally agree with a lot of what you say, Darla, but you're just wrong on this one, IMHO.

I agree with Darla and BAC. The way it is written it allows the same people who order the "hit" to determine if the target should be killed. It does remove all right to a trial, and jumps straight to the execution.

We've disagreed before, WB. Everybody is passionate about something. And I am passionate about American justice. I just don't believe any American traitor that has joined up with and even heads up portions of a foreign entity that is duty bound to destroy Americans and American assets has any rights of justice or otherwise. That is something they should have considered in their personal deliberations as to whether or not to become an enemy of THIS state. I never checked anyone's papers in Viet Nam. I could've killed a few Americans. I really don't know and I really don't care. I did the best job I could while maintaining my number one priority of personal safety, security and well being.

False equivalents. We have very limited investigative entities in these war zones and virtually no court rooms. I learned in Viet Nam that if I was being placed in danger by a stupidassed decision by a stupidassed squad/platoon leader there were ways to deal with him. If in the middle of enemy contact one of the troops went berserk and started firing crazily or crying and yelling we did everything possible to quell it as immediately as possible. Are you getting my drift? War is hell, my friend.

It is absolutely not a false equivalency. If they assasinate someone, our gov't can quite easily claim that they had information that they were an al Qaeda operative. If pressed to release this information they can claim it is a matter of national security, and get off scot-free.

I do not trust our gov't to do the right thing without checks & balances. Anyone who does is naive.

Sooooooooo,,,,,,,,,what are we supposed to do? Go back to the Santa Claus argument? Naivety? Get real, cowgirl.

Obviously you care a lot, dumbass. Obama is goD? I'm an Atheist. You are the one whining like a stuck pig. And I am that one that stuck you. Now, ain't that the shits?

You haven't stuck anyone. You are defending a piece of legislation that is blatantly unconstitutional, and you are depending on the honesty and integrity of the gov't to prevent abuse of that law. That is insanity.
