Whose head would explode if there was a maximum wage?
I think one should be required, some CEO's are paid far too much, it is ridiculous and as a stockholder I complain!

As I stated earlier it does NOT have to increase all the way up the pay scale.
Oddly you chose to delete that portion of my response so you wouldn't have to deal with the fact I was right.
Well if the minimum wage was tied to inflation then the increases would be minimal and the reaction would be minimal as well. making the jump from $7.25 and hour to $20 might create problems, fortunately no one is trying to do anything that extreme.

How is discussing the economic effects of raising the minimum wage a knee jerk response? You believe the politics of it is more important than the economic aspects. Fair enough, that's your opinon. But anyone who thinks the opposite is not having a rational response? Not buying that.
Because minimum wage jobs are designed for teens, young adults (predominantly college age) and part time workers. They are not designed for someone to live off of on its own.
well then wouldn't they have that same motivation regardless of whether or not you raise the minimum wage? You realize the higher the minimum goes, the more of a disincentive it becomes?
precisely... which is why if you raise the minimum wage for the unskilled, the skilled will want more as well to compensate for their skill set.
yet you JUST stated they should be paid more than the minimum wage. You couldn't even go two sentences without contradicting yourself.
roflmao... wow... now you have just gone completely absurd.
Yes....well like I said....I haven't seen all sorts of women, youths, Hispanics and Blacks charging over here to help you defend your point of view. The only one who has is Wacko.....and he's another pasty assed chamber of commerce type white guy with a $12 haircut!![]()
The economic aspects, cawacko has his dog whistle out today.
Hmmmm....I do see your point Wacko......but that does bring up an interesting question. What the fuck happened to you? Took after your Mom?![]()
Mom has an MBA from SMU.
I'm either adopted or they did a lot of freaking drugs in the late '60's and early '70's and I suffer from crack baby syndrome.
If economic issues are not a consideration and it is purely political then why not propose raising the minimum wage to $10, $15 or $20? Those latter numbers are a hell of a lot closer to a 'living wage' than $9.
Because then he can still argue that it's not an absurd step and fewer businesses will be able to say that changing the minimum wage will flat out put them out of business. If economic issues are not a consideration and it is purely political then why not propose raising the minimum wage to $10, $15 or $20? or you grew up in Ohio and went to USC
A business in my town, ran close to even with very little profit from the manager, this was a while back when the wage was still 7.15, he had three minimum wage employees, all highschool students. When the wage changed he dropped below the point that he could/would support and sold the business. That area is still vacant. This was from a very small change. How many changes will result from a large one? When Ford did it stimulated the eonomy. He doubed wages, no ill effects. This is the complaint made by corporations and their supporters every time there is talk of raising the minimum wage, but I have never seen the ill effects come to pass that they lament about. If you have proof to the contrary, I would really like to review it.

So then you would be on board with raising the minimum wage to $15 or $20?
I think raising it to the amount proposed is the first step and that it should be reviewed every year to see if adjustments need to be made.
Why $9? That's not going to get people out of poverty. And you said it was a dog whistle to bring up economics so if economics aren't an issue why not go with something closer to a living wage amount of $15 or $20?
I fully admit that DH knows way more than I do about the p
policy details. Of pretty much any policy. The funny thing is he so obviously knows way more then SF too. Well I think I know more than SF does so that DH does goes without saying. But anyway SF Will never admit it. Maybe he doesn't even recognize it. Sf is definitely one of those guys who wouldn't.
Anyway, I can't say I'm ever sorry to see DH here.
