Sol, I'm sure I've answered your question long ago. A one-man, one-woman married couple is the best way to raise children, and therefore not just a benefit but vital for a civilized society. Any other alternative arrangement is simply less desirable.
I was once told by a much younger college that she did not intend to get married, but she wanted children and so would raise them herself. There have been studies posted that showed that having gay parents has no detrimental effect on children. I have personally posted links to several of these studies.

It is certainly not acceptable for kids who will not have two parents at all, because your antiquated ideas will not allow their two parents to marry.
It is certainly not desireable based on studies that showed no negative effects on most kids raised by gay couples.
It appears it is less desireable because of a few religious fundamentalists, and because of some "Ick Factor" in which you feel allowing gay marriage would increase the number of gay people.
