Of course it is an "appeal to tradition". There has been research on kids raised by straight couples, gay couples, and single parents. I have posted this research in numerous debates with you. It consistently showed there being no difference in the way the kids turn out.

And try to stick to the topic. Trying to divert it by dragging up old debates is laughable.

It may be news to you, but here in God's Country we voted a Constitutional Amendment for traditional marriage, and it passed by 61%.
 
and the supreme court will, one day - sooner than later - make your constitutional amendment moot. sucks to be on the wrong side of progress, doesn't it?

my prediction:

DOMA will be ruled unconstitutional.

Prop 8? I am not so sure... given the tide of political victories for gay rights in the past five years, I can easily imagine SCOTUS ducking that and just letting public opinion solve the problem for them

what is YOUR prediction?
 
Due to the obvious instability of the members of the court, I'm not predicting anything. Except of course that they'll continue to ignore the Constitution and let Congress do whatever the hell it pleases.

How's that gay marriage thing in Mexico?

It certainly is an appeal to tradition. "Appeal to Tradition is a fallacy that occurs when it is assumed that something is better or correct simply because it is older, traditional, or "always has been done."". Whether you claim it is because other forms of marriage have been tired over the centuries or not, the simple fact is that you are appealing to tradition.

Besides, what we were discussing what whether or not it is desireable where children are concerned. So your argument has no merit.

Also, since the thread is about gay marriage, and that has not been tried, your argument has not merit.
