Expanded background checks....

Billy, this is the avenue by which pople with who can't purchase a gun because of mental illness or felonies buy guns. They would be turned away by a dealer. I don't have a problem with private sales, otherwise.
then keep them behind bars where they belong.

I have NEVER met a private seller that paid the money to have a booth at a gun show. private sales happen because people are walking around the show with their private weapons to sell. seriously, you're acting like an idiot here.

That's because most gunshows don't allow booths for non-FFLs.

Of course this whole statistic about there being no background checks is very misleading. My state for example, does not require background checks on CCW holders. After all, if they have a valid permit they already passed the check and haven't done anything to invalidate it. It's the same in a fuck ton of other states as well (at least 33). Then there are guns that aren't guns. Anything made prior to 1899 isn't a gun legally, and therefore not subject to background checks, nor are air rifles (caliber is irrelevant here) and muzzleloaders/black powder guns. It's pretty easy to say a lot of guns don't get background checks when they aren't guns at all (legally).

Sure there is a loophole, if you buy a gun at a shop, they must check your background, if you buy one at a gunshow, that check is not required.
Then why the hell did I waste all that time filling out forms and waiting 15 days (per gun) at gun shows 4 times? (and this was over 20 years ago, BEFORE the laws got tougher!)
