'Three dead' in explosions at Boston Marathon finish

I feel like I am in a time warp? First the bombings now the ricin letters. It's so deja vu. I guess now I am really officially old because apparently I have to live through everything twice.
 
Anyone watching CNN? The SF Chronicle website is stating that CNN is reporting the bomber has been ID'd but there was no follow up story.

Yeah it's breaking news but nothing further. I hope it's true. I hope they have the right person. But these news outlets eff a lot of shit up so who knows.

Obama recognizes the longstanding traditions of canning and sport cooking and therefore only wants to limit the size of your Pressure Cooker. High capacity pressure cookers are a bane on society, and should only be used in a governmental capacity or for professional licensed cookers. The idea that you could use them to fight against hunger in today's age of grocery stores is laughable. Nobody "needs" a high capacity pressure cooker.

First we need a registry of all the pressure cookers and a chemical signature so we can know if your grandfathered in high capacity pressure cooker is used in a crime... If you own one of these unnecessary items we'll need to verify that need and get your background checked, only fools would stop legislation for background checks for pressure cookers!

No valid analogy here... The intended use for pressure cookers is not to kill.
 
Well I really am impressed. For the most part you all remained civil and didn't resort to the shrill name calling that makes this place hard to take. I read this entire thread. It was interesting to relive the day hour by hour, as tons of misinformation was passed on to us by the press, and on social media. This is the first time I have engaged in a political discussion about this event. I have watched lots of video about the people who ran into the smoke when most were running out. Especially moved by the story of the guy who lost a son in Iraq and another to suicide. He was there to pass out flags to soldiers who were running the race and ended up clamping down a guy's femoral artery with his bare hands. Whoever did this needs to be beat. Tied to a chair, and people who were there, and family members of the dead get to hit him one with a ball pin hammer starting with his toes.
 
The NRA has announced an effort to legalize ownership of individual NUCLEAR ARMS saying, just because its intended use is to kill entire cities of people is no excuse for banning it.
 
To add to the discussion here, CNN reports the suspect to be a "dark skinned male"...

CNN confirmed the news at 1:45 p.m. local time when journalist John King said both a federal source and a Boston law enforcement source confirmed the news. Reporter Fran Townsend then added over the phone that “there is an arrest that has been made in the Boston bombing case based off of two independent videos.”

Earlier in the day, CNN reported shortly after 1 p.m. that a suspect has apparently been identified. The suspect’s name has not been made public as of this time, but he is reportedly a dark-skinned male, according to police.

Pressure cookers used for canning. Canning used to preserve food for long periods of time. Preppers like to can food. Preppers like guns. Preppers like high capacity magazines. Place a ban on pressure cookers and you starve preppers to death, there by decreasing support for high capacity magazines.
