The PSNI have been trying to get recordings held in Boston College that indict Gerry Adams in a number of atrocities

He is the president of Sinn Fein, hailed by many for helping to cement the IRA’s ceasefire in 1994. But one woman last night claimed Gerry Adams ‘betrayed’ Republicans, sanctioned the bombing of London targets and ordered the kidnapping of several people thought by the IRA to be traitors. Convicted IRA bomber Dolours Price, 61, of Dublin, claims there is evidence of this in recordings which the Police Service of Northern Ireland has been trying to obtain from Boston College in the US.

No replies because we don't understand where you're going with this.

I'm mean, I could create a post using an article saying that Hitler was responsible for killing of Jews....but without some kind of context... it's just an article.

Well it is quite simple, Boston College is refusing to hand over tapes of IRA bomber confessions, I just found that to be supremely ironic in light of the Boston Marathon bombings. Apparently everything needs to be spelt out, of course it also helps if you read the article. Don't get me wrong I think Delores Price is a pretty despicable character and what's more entirely unrepentant for her role in the car bombing of the Old Bailey. However she does know a lot about the murky side of Gerry Adams, so it is not surprising that he doesn't want those tapes to be released. Alles klar?

Well, thanks for the clarification...but I really don't know who these people are. I guess the question is...how can BC legally refuse to surrender the confession tapes if they are part of an investigation? Or....is there no investigation, and this is something that some radical media group is drumming up?

Did Bill Clinton intervene in the Basque crisis? Boston is arguably the most Irish city in the US and I speak as a son of Irish Catholics who has relatives all over the US. Anyway there isn't the same historical connection between the UK and Spain as there is with the US, so I don't see the relevance of that comment. I could understand that level of ignorance from someone on the west coast but Steelplate is from Pennsylvania.

Ok...so Americans are "ignorant" for having little to no interest in Northern Ireland, whilst our own ignorance of Spain can be excused because we don't have a "historical connection" to a nation on our own doorstep to which 90% of the nation has travelled and which is populated by huge swathes of British pensioners.

And to think, Americans regard the British as a little arrogant.

Everyone seems to focus on the problems that concern where they live and tend to shrug off problems that are happening else where; unless those problems might have an affect on their little slice of the earth.

How many British pensioners live in the Basque country? How many British have been directly affected by ETA activities? The vast majority live on the Mediterranean coast. and have never been aware of bombings unlike the IRA bombings in mainland Britain. To try to make a comparison is just frankly ridiculous.

Oh and was there an equivalent to Noraid collecting funds to supply weapons to ETA in the UK?
